PANJIM: Even as Drishti Special Response Services have begun the recruitment process of new lifeguards, the ongoing strike continued into its fifth day on Friday. In fact, warring lifeguards said that Saturday's scenario would be no different.
It is learnt that lifeguards based in Satari hold the key to solving the problem between the striking lifeguards and Drishti. Almost 200 lifeguards belong to the hinterland taluka, and they said that they are now awaiting the return of their local MLA Vishwajit Rane to play a mediator's role in the imbroglio.
"Almost 180-200 of our lifeguards are from the Satari taluka. While we have planned to meet chief minister Digambar Kamat on Saturday regarding this issue, we are awaiting the return of the Valpoi MLA. He is not in the state at present," a striking lifeguard said. (TNN)
