PANJIM: The Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat, on Saturday, said that though the fight against the colonial rulers is long over, fight against enemies of the state such as poverty, illiteracy and unemployment is still on.
Addressing a public meeting at Azad Maidan on the eve of the commencement of the golden jubilee year of Goa’s Liberation, the Chief Minister said that a true Goan is one who loves Goa from the heart, and all true Goans should support the government in taking the state to the pinnacle of its progress and development.
The Leader of the Opposition, Mr Manohar Parrikar, speaking on the occasion, said that places like Russia reverted back to the original name of its cities once the Soviet Union collapsed, however, we in Goa still takes pride in continuing with the names of Portuguese officials given to the streets and roads.
Mr Parrikar further said that Goa should achieve all things, which could make it the topmost state in the country. The noted freedom fighter, Mr Naguesh Karmali stated that there are still some elements in Goa, who have a soft corner for Portuguese rulers.
“Such behaviour is an insult to the sentiments of countless freedom fighters and patriotic people, who love Goa as a liberated region,” Mr Karmali noted, further thanking the government for initiating schemes for freedom fighters and their children.
Mr Karmali also stated that the Liberation Day of Goa should be celebrated by the entire country as it gave total freedom to India from the colonial rule. The Minister for Transport, Mr Ramakrishna Dhavalikar, Chief Secretary, Mr S K Srivastava, Kumbharjua MLA, Mr Pandurang Madkaikar, and Mayor, Ms Carolina Po were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, three ‘Mashal Pheris’ (torch processions) began at various locations in the city; the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat leading the march from Kala Academy, the leader of the opposition, Mr Manohar Parrikar leading the march from Altinho and the third march participated by the general public from the Ambedkar garden. All the three processions later culminated at Azad Maidan.
We Goans will fight against these Chor Cowmuth, looters, and bribe takers for employment. Poverty in Goa is because the 40 chor are looting and depriving Goans their rightful dues, and feeding criminals and thieves who have been labeled as freedom Farters. Do you need proof? Your own RSS men speak so on Navprabha as seen on the post here.
ReplyDeleteNaguesh Karmali the chor and asshole who claims to be a freedom fighter is only A FREEDOM FARTER. He is a big thief who used to work during the day at Radio station and commit petty thefts at night. Goans did not ask him to fight for freedom of Goa. He did that to fill his own pockets which failed him badly. One should urinate on the graves of the freedom farters of Goa. I would do that on the ashes of Naguesh Karmali
