MARGAO: In a major breakthrough in the series of robbery cases reported in Margao and Panjim during the last couple of months, Margao police on Thursday busted two gangs involving some 11 persons. Margao town police inspector Santosh Desai, along with his team who had laid a trap on Thursday, told reporters that all 11 persons arrested had been produced before the court at Margao and remand of five days sought.

Desai informed that one gang consisted of eight members, mostly from Karnataka, and the other gang consisted of three members.
He said that all the accused were involved in a series of theft cases reported in various places at Margao and Panjim during the past couple of months. He also suspects their involvement in a case of five thefts in a single night that occurred at Margao last week.
Some of the names of accused revealed by police are Kumar alias Karim Gaundal, Shankar Mali and Ashok Patil of Karnataka, Anton Pillai and Ketan Chari of Goa, Ratan Singh of West Bengal while the rest of them are minors.
Desai further informed that Chari was caught red handed while trying to break open a shop at Margao and after his arrest, his two accomplices were also nabbed. He said that the other gang consisting of eight persons was nabbed at the KRC washing yard at Margao.
Meanwhile, one Girish Kane of Navelim on Thursday complained to the Margao town police that some unknown miscreants robbed around 28 handsets from his mobile phone gallery last night estimated to cost around Rs 80,000. Police have registered an offence and are investigating the case. (TNN)

ReplyDeleteIts a shame that Goa is known as a safe haven for indian ghanti criminals and thieves. Cannot our Goan Government see all this. Digamber Kamat, Ravi Naik, Churchill Alemao are some of the importers of ghantis into Goa. Goan People are also blind and are sold for just 500 rupees. Churchill distributes 500 Rs to every voter and that also on the election day to help himself he has brought in ghanti load of voters. Shame! Shame!! Shame!!!
