PROBE HOME MINISTER'S HAFTA ALLEGATIONS: NCP

State NCP has demanded thorough probe in home minister Ravi Naik’s controversial statement to the media that several politicians in Goa were receiving hafta or protection money from drug dealers.
Trajano D’mello, spokerperson and Vice President of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) said that NCP wants the Chief minister to intervene. He said that a NCP delegation will be sent to the CM demanding inquiry in the matter. D’mello was speaking at a press conference in the city on Sunday evening.
NCP has demanded that the investigations in the police-politician-drug dealer nexus case be handed over to CBI or any other competent central agency as Goa police are involved in the case. “Police cannot investigate police”, said D’mello. He further said that the matter needs to be probed very seriously as a money involved in drug related activities is also redirected towards terrorist activity.
“Seized drugs have gone missing from police custody. It should be checked whether seized armory is intact”, said Trajano. Home minister Ravi Naik’s controversial statement to the media that several politicians in Goa were receiving hafta or protection money from drug dealers had disrupted proceedings of the Goa legislative assembly on Friday 6th August.
Swedish model Lucky Farmhouse, former girlfriend of alleged drug dealer Atala had stirred a hornet’s nest through her drug dealer-police nexus showing video uploaded on Youtube. Allegations were also levied on the home minister’s sons for involvement in the drugs business. Both the Opposition as well as the ruling legislators have been demanding CBI probe into the case. In the recently concluded monsoon session of the state legislative assembly the Opposition has created mayhem by disrupting the proceeding for seven times demanding a CBI on the drugs issue.
NCP also announced that it will hold its party workers convention on 5th September 2010 qt Mapusa. NCP leaders from Maharashtra will be invited to guide the convention said the spokesperson

  1. All of you are taking haftas. So why get after one another? Ravi Naik must be passing on Hafta to the NCP cadets to keep their mouth shut on his son Roy's activities

  2. To catch a thief you need a thief that is what Naik is telling us. These thieves have ruined Goa for the Goans. They rob the state while their children enjoy committing other crimes.

  3. The Home Minister has been caught in a Jam and so he has started blurting out anything that comes to his mouth to divert the public attention. But he is doing it in a very silly way. But so also none of the politicians are clean not even one.

  4. When the Home Minister announces something he should prove it or ask his corrupt police force to go after the concerned hafta taking MLAs. Now that Ravi Naik has been known as the drug dealer in Goa and that his son Roy has an agency of drug selling, he is trying to get others into the picture.

  5. Yes a probe should be conducted for such allegations which are very serious in nature. Since the home minister knows which of the politicians used to take haftas, he should initiate police action and have them arrested. Otherwise he should resign for false allegations and his involvment into drug dealing along with his son roy naik.
