PORTUGUESE PASSPORT HOLDERS HAVE BAD NEWS

If you are a Portuguese passport holder, and your name continues to be on the electoral rolls, you are going to your voting right or any membership of any elected body, the Foreigners Branch has submitted a detailed list of Goan Portuguese passport holders for action under the laws in force.
Around 1000 Goans, who have obtained Portuguese passports during the last three years, face the risk of deletion of their names from the electoral rolls. Based on the report from the Superintendent of Police, Foreigners Branch, Tony Fernandes, the office of the Chief Electoral Office has forwarded copies of the list to the Assistant Electoral Officers across Goa for verification and action.
Records revealed that around 312 Goans had obtained Portuguese Passport in the year 2008. The number swelled to 432 in the following year and around 433 locals acquired the passport so far this year.
A perusal of the names revealed that most of the Portuguese passport holders hail from Tiswadi taluka, comprising the villages of Agacaim, Goa Velha, Merces, Santa Cruz, Taleigao etc.
Even though the Portuguese Passport holders hail from across the State, including villages of pre-dominantly Catholic Salcete, a majority of the holders are from Tiswadi. “We are in receipt of the names of Goans from the Foreigners Branch who have obtained Portuguese passports. The names will be verified before initiating action under the Electors Rules”, informed Assistant Electoral Officer, Margao Paresh Faldessai.
The AEO said that the Booth Level Officers will be entrusted with the task of verifying each and every name of the passport holder before they are struck down from the electoral rolls. In fact, the election branch of the AEO, Margao has started the process of verification of the names based on records submitted by the Foreigners branch.

  1. Good job, do not take the passport for granted, it's your escape to freedom from the corrupt politicians and police. Either you belong back to where you were or give up. Do not cry over both things. India gave us freedom and we are free to loot, murder and fight on the wrong side. If someone don't like the decision, give the Portuguese Passport back. Viva Goa.

TO ALL READERS ON HERALD: I have some of my good strong friends working for Herald. I just enquired today what had happened. They told me that the Politicians and the Goa Police forced them to shut down the comments section. Anyway we have Niz Goenkar whom they cannot shut. Only thing is that on this forum we must not use badwords and vulgar language.

  3. Is this bad news for Portuguese passport holders? My foot!!! Who wants to vote for these monkeys. If, like my sister, I had a Portuguese passport I would be free to do what I want and not become the slave of these politicians. Are they trying to threaten or scare people. Its each one's decision. Follow your heart my Portuguese passport holder brethern, but never forget our fight to get our original Goa back to how it was before all these "macacos" appeared. If you are deleted from the electoral list, its not a big issue. They cannot tell you to go out of India.

  4. Well said Felix Mascarenhas... On this forum we will not have anyone to instigate us. We only used bad or harsh words earlier in reponse to these instigators, the puppets of the politicians. The Herald now is gone to the dogs and these monkeys have dug their own graves by closing the comments section on the Herald. They did not expect "Niz Goenkar" to rise up in retaliation. Long live "Niz Goenkar" and all Niz Goenkars alike. We are all with you our Niz Goenkar! God Bless you!
