GIRISH KARNAD WITHDRAWS RESIGNATION

Actor Girish Karnad, in a twisting move withdrew his resignation from the development panel. According to the office of the Chief Minister of Goa, Digamber Kamat, Karnad agreed to withdraw his resignation after the Chief Minister spoke to him.

Media advisor to the Chief Minister, Suresh Walve told the media that Mr. Karnad agreed to withdraw his resignation after the CM managed to convince him to be part of the Golden Jubilee Development Council. According to Walve Karnad said that since the Chief Minister spoke to him he agreed to withdraw the resignation.
Karnad was named the member of the Development Council led by the scientist Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar. Karnad had expressed his shock over the recent attack by the HJS on the artist Jose Pereira for his painting work exhibited at the XCHR. In a letter to the Chief Minister Digamber Kamat, Karnad had said “Let me say how deeply shocked I am to hear of the attacks by self-styled standard-bearers of Hindu culture on the works of Jose Pereira, a scholar and artist of eminence”. Karnad had also said “I should like to withdraw my name from the high level committee which you were kind enough to invite me to serve on since this is not the culture of liberation I had hoped to celebrate”.
The Hindu Janajagruti Sangh had protested against the some of the paintings of Jose Pereira on display at the XCHR which depicted their deities in nude and obscene poses. The group has continued their campaign against the paintings of Jose Pereira.
Mr Karnad said that the Chief Minister Digamber Kamat had given him assurances which the Chief Minister has denied saying that he did not give any assurances to Mr. Girish Karnad. This twist of events have left everybody puzzled and surprised especially when the Chief Minister is denying any sort of assurance to Mr. Karnad. The public too are surprised and have been asking if this is a mockery of the situation or a joke by Mr. Karnad and the Chief Minister. This is a very strange type of protest by Mr. Karnad when a few days back he had said that his resignation was final with no turning back.

  1. Will we ever get an answer as to why Girish Karnad withdrew his resignation? It just goes to show that with all the negative feedback the CM must be worried about the next election. Stay United and keep the pressure.

  2. If this man of word Girish Karnad wanted to go back on his word, what should we call him? From man of word to a man of rubbish.
