MOBILE USERS DEMAND KONKANI ANOUNCEMENTS by Menino Fernandes

The Goa Hitrakhan Manch has struck again! The GHM is a social movement for the mother tongue of Goa Konkani and a fierce defender of Goa’s identity and historical legacy, has done it again. They have hit hard where every one else had not even thought of, the announcements on the mobiles.
Telephone users have demanded that BSNL also use Konkani language while making announcements to the subscribers. Goa Hitrakhan Manch leader Prashant Naik questioned BNSL general manager Ravi why the telephone service provider is not using Konkan for making announcements.
At the Open House Session held at the Margao Municipal hall, Naik reminded BSNL officials that Konkani is official language of Goa and demanded that the mother tongue of Goans be used for making announcements.
“In Maharashtra, Marathi is used to inform subscribers of any announcement. The same is the case in Karnataka”, he said. The BSNL General manager assured that the service provider will look into the feasibility of using Konkani language for making announcements.
Mr. Prashant Naik and his group of Goa Hitrakhan Manch have always fought for the mother toungue Konkani. Prashant a dynamic leader and spokesman of GHM had devoted himself selflessly for the service of Konkani and Goa. His fierce speeches and various blockades towards the language has won him the hearts of the Goan people.

  1. I bow my head to Mr. Prashant Naik, He is a true Goan among Goans. Our Catholic Ministers should take note and stand by him.

  2. The BSNL authorities must be forced to start immediately the announcements in Konkani and not wait for scrutinising the feasibility. The demand by the GHM is genuine and must be complied with at all costs.

  3. This should have been implemented from the very beginning and not wait till somebody came up with the demand. Did they not implement marathi right from the introduction of BSNL in Maharashtra? Then why the delay in and silence to implement Konkani announcements in Goa. Well done Prashant.

  4. Most of the employee in BSNL are from outside Goa so how they will understand konkanni. Annoucement should be made in Konkanni and those who do not understand in BSNL they have be sent to their homes

  5. Why are they so hesitant to start the announcements in Konkani? Are they planning to merge Goa into Maharashtra again? Bandodkar is dead and gone and along with him his dream of making us maharashtrians. Start right away the Konkani announcements. Great work Prashant and the Goa Hitrakhan Manch.

Not only Konkani announcements have to be started immediately, but also the marathi announcements have to be stopped immediately. Marathi is not our language. Those who want marathi they should go and live in Maharashtra and not in Goa. Those who want to live here in Goa they should follow and live with Konkani. Otherwise get out of Goa.
