FOR THE EYES OF GOANS ONLY

Beautiful Letters to the Herald

Stop Glorifying Parrikar by Jerry Fernandes, Saligao
Some ignorant people are trying to portray Leader of the Opposition Manohar Parrikar as an ultimate hero and a man of the masses, after listening to all his arrogant abusive speeches and seeing his one-man performance in the Goa Assembly.
There is a famous saying: ‘Empty vessels make the most noise.’ That is exactly what Parrikar has been practically doing all these years. Weren’t all the illegal activities he pilloried prevalent during his tenure in Goa? He accused the Congress of not giving government jobs to minorities. How many jobs did he give the minorities as the Chief Minister of Goa? The Congress might have done absolutely nothing for Goans, but they never tried to divide anyone on the basis of caste, creed and religion, unlike Parrikar and Co.
Bravo Mr Karnad! By Julius Carvalho, Dubai
Girish Karnad does not to associate with people who protect and promote criminal culture in Goa. It is an embarrassment for CM Digambar Kamat, but does he care? How can the government and Goa Police behave powerless and spineless to protect Jose Pereira’s paintings from the Hindu JanJagriti Samiti (HJS), whose leaders could not answer the questions posed by Jose Pereira in pure Sanskrit. The HJS lady who led the protest admitted that she did not understand a single word of either Sanskrit or our mother tongue Konkani. This shows that the HJS people have made Goa their home just to divide Goans on communal lines. I request eminent scientist Dr Raghunath Mashelkar not to head the Golden Jubilee Development Council mooted by Digambar Kamat.
Kudos to Karnad by Alvaro Noronha, Margao
It is heartening to note that there are right thinking individuals of eminence who will always stand for what is right. Girish Karnad is one of them. His decision to quit the much-hyped Jubilee Council on grounds of religious intolerance in Goa is commendable.
Chief Minister Digamber Kamat is living in a fool’s paradise, not only because he thinks his governance is one of the best but also because, of late, he equates Goa with Singapore! It is high time he wakes up to reality. He would do well to go through his incoming mail daily. Last heard, he had not received Mr Karnad’s letter, even when all of Goa knew about it.
Bye, bye, special status? By Cedric Da Costa, Margao
On the eve of Independence Day, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said that at the time of Goa’s liberation, then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru would have given Goa special status, but we did not ask for it. Wah, Mr CM, are you trying to tell the people of Goa that now is not the time to demand special status, even when your own Congress government is ruling at the centre? How pathetic is it to try and pass the buck to people who have long passed away? Can’t he find a better way camouflage his incompetence in bargaining for special status with the babus in Delhi?

  1. I agree with Jerry on some points but during BJP time minority christian had more jobs then the present cong time. This was debated in the assembly and CM did not have any answer. In BJP there is discipline, but in congres there is not.Look at Almeao's they even do not respect CM. They got the portfolios by dadagiri they used foul language and ploys to get all these porfolios and the CM agreed as he just wanted to save his seat, so thats the difference.During BJP time Babush and Mickey were sacked or themselves resigned due to discipline but the CM has no guts to do that.Look at Benaulim,Colva, Betalbattim, Navelim, Carmona (Raheja's) who is dividing us BJP or Cong, hindus or our Priest? This is time to unite and Clean Goa we can't do this with religion we require Niz Goenkars and not religion. BJP has started their drive to get minority christians in their camp and lot of christians have joined them due to bad cong governance.

  2. If one looks at some of our Christians when they or family members are sick with an incurable illness, after exhausting all medical and spiritual avenues they visit which doctors (Gadiangare?). To them it is better to make a deal with the devil.
In Goa we have a Political crises where some Goan ministers Switch parties for their own corrupt gains. As a result it is the honest and poor Goans that suffer. Many don't see light at the end of the tunnel. Out of frustration and despair they pray for a better change, one can understand if they vote the opposition in Power next. "Unity among Goans is a must and not an option" any differences must be ironed out.. Unlike 20 years ago today we have more educated Goans, that can make that choice, if possible form another party.

  3. The destruction of Goa was first introduced during the 70's by none other then the present speaker of the House, Rane Sr., and it is carried on by present Chief Minister, Digambar Kamat. These two guys are hardcore BJP who camouflage as Congressmen. Taking the advantage of Sacette Goans who are fighting among themselves. These two guys carry on with their agenda of destroying Goa. Campared to them Manohar Parrikar is harmless. Have you ever heard of the fairy tale Pied Piper of Hamelin?
One Pied Piper is in the North of Goa who brings rats from Maharshtra and the other is in the South of Goa who brings rats from Karnataka. Both will send our Goans into the Arabian Sea never to see Goa again. That is the plan.
