FOR THE EYES OF GOANS ONLY

LETTERS TO THE "HERALD"

Dreams & nightmares By Ludovik Rodrigues, Margao
Luizinho Faleiro has publicly stated his intention to contest either from Navelim or Fatorda, “if Sonia Gandhi tells him to”. Why would she do that? Are there other ‘real’ Congressmen in these constituencies? She has appointed him as a observer for the North East, so why is he concentrating on his revival in Goa?
The people of Goa should teach the Congress that Goans are not slaves of Delhi. Persons rejected at the hustings should not be thrust upon us again and again.
Poor Sonia; she may not even know where and how her name is being used and misused!

Fight against scams
By Col Cyril P D’Souza (Retd), Calangute
The article ‘Fighting a losing battle’ (Goa’s Heartbeat, Herald, 7 August) by Janice Rodrigues tells the true story of Helen Braganza, a retired widow who was reduced to a pauper as she lost her life savings when she was duped by an investment company.
Over the years, we have seen several such companies that have collected peoples’ hard-earned money and then disappeared without a trace, leaving poor investors high and dry.
One such company was CRB Capital Markets led by conman C R Bhansali, who duped thousands of people. Was anything done to trace him? One of his henchmen from Panjim is still roaming scot-free. A gentleman in my village suffered a stroke as he too, like Helen, had deposited his life’s savings in that company.
Will those affected by such scams come forward together fearlessly and pressurise the government to ensure that these crooks are brought to book and such incidents don’t happen again?

Inquire and forget By Marcos Alemao, Varca
Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane is very diplomatic. He instituted an inquiry into the death of Miss Raveena, suspended the doctor who operated her, and then kept the suspension order in abeyance.
The Health Minister instituted a similar inquiry when a boy’s legs were amputated some months back owing to negligence by GMC doctors. No one knows the results of that inquiry. The boy is in despair, while the negligent doctors are happy and healthy. Will the same thing happen to the present inquiry?

  1. Luizinho was a Union leader and a margao politician helped him to become MLA and minister. Someone should probe his account in Swiss bank, thats what Parrikar is crying and also how he owned an island in south Goa, may be he sold it to Ghanttis...one day he will get exposed.. believe me one guy is working on it

  2. This old crocked man Luizinho Could have done a lot for the Goans when he was an MP from Delhi. He had his chances, what does he want now? Like Marcel says he will sell his land to the Ghantis. Does he want to lend his hand to the present MLAs to destroy Goa further?
