SARDINHA & FALEIRO TOGETHER FOR FOOTBALL AT FATORDA

Two of the Congressmen were seen together at a football match at the Fatorda grounds on 22nd August but the assembly also raised eyebrows in the camp of Salcete’s power that be. Also present there was the BJP MLA of Fatorda Damu Naik.

There were some exciting and anxious moments to their detractors seeing the CWC member and the South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha together watching the match and whispering to each other specially Congress Mahila Chief Monica Dias, ex-MLA Luis Cardozo, Piedade Noronha the Councilor and above all GPCC general secretary Vijay Sardesai.
The political stalwarts assembly comes under the fear of the reports, that the ex-MLA Luizinho Faleiro, might be trying to contest either at Fatorda or Navelim for the next assembly elections. Faleiro played down his presence by saying that he was on the platform due to his long relationship with late Assis Noronha, in whose memory the tournament was organized by the Late Assis Noronha Memorial Trust. Faleiro paid rich tributes to Assis, saying that it was very difficult to get good contractors like Assis Noronha in the present times. He also spoke about Assis’ participaton in movements like the state language, statehood for Goa, about the movement for the recognition of the rights of Other Backward Minorities and Schedule Tribes
The GPCC general secretary Vijai Sardesai said that he does not see much in the assortment of political leaders at Fatorda that evening and that Faleiro was a seasoned politician and that he did not expect him to make inroads in the constituency by attending a football match. He also said that he was not disturbed at all by the appearance of the two leaders at the Fatorda grounds and that neither did he consider them as a hindrance to him. He also said that it is upto the voters and the party to decide who has been with them always.
However sources in the know said that the presence of both the leaders on one platform has left the other powers in doubts and anxiousness. The PWD minister Churchill Alemao said that the both of them will not be able match his close aide Vijay Sardesai in Fatorda. Churchill said “I am told that the BJP MLA was present for the finals. Even if the two congress members align with the BJP MLA nothing is going to affect Vijay Sardesai and his election.

  1. None of the current and past politicians that has served more than five years will do any good For Goa. There is a need in Goa for new Blood. Unity among Goans is a must, the destruction of Goa can only be stopped by new young Goan blood.
