Dr. REBELLO QUITS GOA BACHAO ABHIYAN By Menino Fernandes

It is a real shame that Dr. Oscar Rebello resigned from the Goa Bachao Abhiyan. Why did he take this step? Dr. Rebello as far as my knowledge is concerned is a good and honest person. Dr. Rebello resigned due to an internal rift in the party. Internal rifts have caused a huge influx of migrants into Goa. We do not see unity among us the Goans.
Dr. Oscar Rebello
According to Dr. Rebello there were infightings and allegations from its members against him. He said that he cannot stay in the organisation since his integrity has been questioned. Yes when the integrity of an honest person in the organisation is questioned it really hurts the feelings after doing so much honestly and in return one gets nothing but allegations. It was Dr. Oscar Rebello who was the main man behind the GBA. He was fighting selflessly to save Goa from all the regional plans and other schemes by the government aimed to destroy Goa. He also was the first convener of GBA for a long time.
Dr. Oscar has written many articles against the activities going on in Goa, pertaining to SEZ and all other plans that were destructive towards Goa. One of the GBA members has accused the good Doctor of cash transactions of the GBA. Bevinda who is a member of the GBA had alleged that Dr. Rebello was indulged in the cash transactions during a meeting at Cansaulim. Belinda’s accusations against Dr. Rebello which can be seen in the local daily Heraldo of 8th August 2010 to which Dr. Oscar had replied in his letter to the editor on 11th August 2010.
When there is mistrust internally then the very existence of its members cease. Patricia Pinto another member of the GBA had also given up the membership of the task force along with Dr. Rebello on regional planning 2011. The GBA has lost two of its most important members that they had during the historic Goa Bachao Andolan. These two members are termed as the crusaders of the GBA. GBA convener Sabina Martins (ex-students leader) has decided to be silent on the resignations by Dr. Rebello and Patricia Pinto.
Goa needs all the honest talents that we have. The time has come to be collectively united and resisting every wrong move by the politicians. We have the Goa Hitrakhan Manch which is a real bad blow to the politicians and the corrupts of the Goan society. It is high time that we the Goans live our lives in a way it was supposed to be. Today the whole world is watching the ROME OF THE EAST, THE PEARL OF THE ORIENT. Do the corrupt leaders of Goa realise this? They do, but they have covered their eyes to get the feeling of not being observed. Wake up my dear Goans let us fight for our beloved Goa. Let us be a majority in Goa. Let us get back our houses and properties grabbed by outsiders. For this we have to UNITE. Dr. Oscar try to work for Goa alone and selflessly as you have done. All the Niz Goans will be with you. Long live Goa & Goans!

It is shameful that in Goa if somebody tries to do something good, he is brought down by the jealous Goans. Now doctor Oscar was doing a good job and he should have been supported. But our crab minded Goans will not come out of their trance of jealousy and that is why we have become a minority in our own Goa.

  2. Like Dr. Rebello, all the Goans should come out to protect Goa. We need more Prashant Naiks, More doctor Rebellos. All the Goans now should unite - HINDUS, MUSLIMS AND CATHOLICS of Goan Origin and roots should come together to cleanse Goa of the dirt in Goa.

  3. With the exit of Dr. Oscar the GBA has lost its main pillar upon which the GBA stood. Will GBA Survive?

  4. It rather sad that an apolitical oraganation like the GBA should get destroyed by its own internal politics.

  5. It is not Belinda but Bevinda Collaco who has written about Dr. Oscar on the Herald of 8th. August 2010. Again she is not a member of GBA but a columnist of Herald.

  6. Dear Joe Souza, Thanks for highlighting the mistake. Yes it is Bevinda and not Belinda. It was typographical error. I have corrected it and once again thank you and my assurances that next time I write my articles I shall take extra care to check the mistakes. It happened due to the name Belinda is of one of our neighbours which is on the tip of tongue. Dear Readers please accept my apology.

  7. Dr Rebello is a good and decent person and a doctor who worked so hard for Goa..The news is devastating for me...In my mind and heart he should get the highest office in Goa. I have always believed that. (He even treated my father once and didn't even charge him). Poor man, so much was put on him. He needs to be recognized at the second savior for Goa....I would hate to see him go. We need not be silent when we loose someone like him. Nor should we be silent when the GBA have done good things for Goa. After all they do it for free....how many of us are willing to put in that much time to help out. It is not easy at all. These people don't care for money, they care about doing good deeds. For that we must always thank them for working so hard for all of us! Our stupid people instead of thanking the doctor, we berate him. I wish someone close can convince him to return, we have to give him the highest honor. This man could easily go out and make a lot of money as a doctor….instead he gives up his time for us. It is time to wake up people! and thank our people and let them know that they are loved by us and that we appreciate everything they do for us. If he returns, I do think that others should also be groomed to take his place when he has to work to put food on the table for his family. I don’t think the burden should be put on his shoulders only. Goa is in crises…I don’t know how to wake our people to that! Sometimes I feel our people deserve it, only my heart breaks for Goa, our home and our heritage.

Dr. Oscar the brains behind the survival of GBA has resigned. This is too unfortunate for the GBA. Goans need Dr. Oscar and his likes to fight against the corrupts who are out to destroy my beloved Goa. Dr. Oscar my request to you is do not forsake Goa continue your fight we are always with you

This is typical goan crab mentality! We have been pulling each other's legs and the trend continues. It has brought us to the current situation.
The crab mentality will finish the goans! We have to do the contrary & finish or give up the crab mentality. Forgive & forget should be the mantra to keep nurturing the goan unity.
We goans have to come under one banner.
Leaders like Dr. Oscar Rebello should keep the disgruntled elements aside and continue to the good work.

Doctor you must ignore these type of people like Bevinda who are nothing but jealous of you. Let them say anything. Goans know what you are so do not worry. Work for the Goans like you did before.
