SALGAONKAR MINING GETS APPROVAL FOR RIVER PRINCESS REMOVAL

M/s Salgaonkar Mining Industries Pvt. Ltd. has been given the first preference to remove the M. V. River Princess off Candolim Beach. M/s Titan Salvage and M/s Madgaonkar Salvage were the two contenders for the removal of River Princess, but could not go through as SMIPL was preferred by the Government.

The Chief Minister, who heads the State Disaster Management Authority on Monday made his decision to give first chance to SMIPL to remove the vessel even though it was almost finalised in favour of a Singaporean company. Titan Salvage had offered to clear the vessel within six months from the sea at Candolim beach at a tender cost of Rs. 125 crores.
Taking into consideration the opinions of the legal advisors in-principle, the Advisory committee, last week had decided on M/s Titan Salvage as the best option to remove the grounded vessel. But the decision of the SDMA tilted in favour of SMIPL as they offered to remove the vessel free of cost. The High Court will be appraised of it when it takes up the PIL of River Princess Hatao Manch.
The government will also negotiate with the two bidders M/s Titan Salvage and M/s Madgaonkar Salvage, who had been finalised out of the twelve bidders, received by the Tourism Demparment to its tender in March this year. SMIPL had been rejected for not being in consonance with the tender conditions.
M/s SMIPL had made its intention very clear that it was ready to remove the River Princess free of cost. It also released advertisements in the newspapers making allegations against the government saying the government had favoured certain parties in the tendering process. Even though the government has decided to consider SMIPL for getting the vessel of the beach, it will also negotiate with the other two bidders and a meeting has been fixed on Wednesday. MLA Agnelo Fernandes said that the government wants to keep other options ready in the event the proposal of SMIPL does not materialise.

We are ready to give Rs 5 crores to Goa government to take the river princes from the sea if the Government will allow us to remove the materials through shore/land.Salvangar plans are that if he will not take the below water level scrap(means inside the sand scrap)the above water level scrap will come profit to him.Afterwards, Government will put another tender to take the inside sand scrp.
He is thinking like that.Inside water below the level scrap taking work is very very hard.In Merina beach in chennai,no one company are taking out the scrap from below sand level.
Nearly 30 years,200 peoples are died every year in Chennai Merina beach.
    It is inland beach.
But Goa is Internatonal beach.Ten years decision is too late to the Government. It must take decision like MSC CHIRA agrouded ship salvage decison in single tender for SMIT SALVAGE COMPANY,SINGAPORE.

  2. The river princess story is like a cat and mouse of fish and bait and fish story. Had this salvage given to our Goan company 10 years ago, it would not have turned into a princess of death. In Goa every step one takes can hear and feel corruption. Employing Goans in this project must be part of the deal.

  3. Madgaonkar will take only the scrap above the water line. When the low hanging fruit is gone Madgaonkar will be gone as well and the problem will still be there and will be more complicated in the end.

  4. Salvancar is gojng to become a ship breacking place in Goa sea shore. He has to go to do ship breaking not salvage work.
Salvage company can do the job.Why government of India has banned the shipbreaking yard in various places? It will destroy the sea shore.
So government selected few places -Alank and kannanore in Keala. Now anther ship braking yard is to be started by Salaokar in Goa.The pollution depar will not allow to ship break in Goa sea shore.India government has no norms to destroy the place.Althe people should not allow to destroy the sea shore.
Goa tourim is getting loss because of the river princess agrounded.Goa tourim must collect ten years income to Goa from Salgoakar.

  5. Honesty comes from the heart and good conscience, I have just been off the phone with one of the regular commentators. I have do not know anyone in herald but have heard a lot about the pressure to close the comment section. Direct threats have been sent to many of the writers. Nelson Mandela spent 27 years on Robin Island prison fighting for the right cause. He has set an example for all the truth seekers, and followers are many. Unity is a must.
