ALL GOA MEETING at 3.30pm on Wednesday, 13th April 2011 at Lohia
Maidan, Margao.
The meeting is in support of the demands of the parents for inclusion of English as a "Medium of Instruction" in Primary schools in Goa.
All are requested to attend.
Dinar L. Barros
(Executive member)
As a parent myself and then as the Vice-chairman of A.G.U.S.P.A. I request each and everyone of you parents to forward this message far and wide and attend in large numbers. The way I look at things, we parents need to join hands irrespective of caste and religion for the benefit of our kids or else you can expect the worst.
We parents have the right to decide on what's good and bad for our own kids and the authorities have deprived us of our basic right. DO NOT
TAKE THINGS LYING DOWN OR YOU COULD FIND YOURSELF AND YOUR KIDS IN DEEP TROUBLE. TO KNOW MORE................. BE THERE AT LOHIA MAIDAN on WEDNESDAY ay 3.30PM.

  1. We can learn a lot from Switzerland. It has got 4 languages. (German, French, Italian and Retro roman) The Swiss people have problems to communicate within themselves. These Swiss take India as an example where every state communicates in English.
Now these Swiss want English as a mandatory language/ Subject in all schools. These Swiss believe that having English in all Schools, the problem of communicating between Swiss citizens in Switzerland will be solved.

    http://politblog.tagesanzeiger.ch/blog/index.php/1332/englisch-als-schweizweit-erste-fremdsprache/?lang=de

"Eine Nationalfonds-Studie kam vor zwei Jahren zum Schluss, dass man in der Schweiz Englisch zur Teil-Amtssprache aufwerten könnte. " Translation in short:- The study shows that in Switzerland, English could be partly used as an official Language.

Some 10 years ago there were people who were against the English language, now these very people support the English language, hope so it changes in Goa too.

And our "F"ree dole "F"arters with some ignorant priests want to kill what we have for free, namely the English language. The world sees the English language in Goa as a big blessing in disguise. The world envies us because of our culture and the Language skills we have in Goa.

It is the duty of all Goan parents and younger generation who want better for their chilndens future must attend the meeting at Lohia Maidan. We should stand up to this corrupt goverment that is not in the interest of Goa. The prime example is the Education Minister's recent fiasco at Bombay Airport smuggling Goan wealth to be invested abroad for himself. We can win battles if we stand united.

According to Dr. Wilfred de Sousa, the Official Language Act as also the central Right to Education Act, the state government is duty bound to give grants to all educational institutions, including those teaching in the English medium. It cannot discriminate against any institution only on grounds of language.

Therefore, the policy decision taken by the government to extend grants-in-aid only to schools with vernacular as the teaching medium at the primary level seems to be going against the law, both central as well as state.

Besides, the RTE stresses on free education up to the age of 14. Again, giving government grants to some schools goes against the central Act.

Well said Pedro - the only option left for restoring back MOI is blocking the entry of Ali baba & his forting theives to Porvorim . Why can,t they have their chor mating (assembly session) in the palace of Adil Shah ? I am only asking Why Marathi ? now the anti corruption bill is on the way. Along with RTI we all can throw these idiots out very easily .Whom we are scared of ? unless we are selves are puppets & crumb eaters.
We are all fools to let these uneducated & uncivilized crumb eaters to be our leaders & yet keep voting them to power. We all are fools , nothing will change in Goa infact things will be worse. better watch out

  6. I think this meet should be attended by all the parents and the Goans in general. I am not talking about those in the name of Konkani are trying to promote Marathi which according to me is a foreign language and not the mother tongue of Goa. BBSM cannot be trusted anymore like the politicians. They are out to publicise marathi. The Government should stop grants to all the Marathi medium schools too or force them to change to Konkani medium if they are so adamant on having primary education in local language. But no way marathi should be given scope as it is a language of Maharashtrians where it is running efficiently. Those who try to impose marathi on Goans should go and settle in Maharashtra and the Government should immediately restore funds to the English medium schools. English should be the MOI with only Konkani as a compulsory subject. This too should be done two ways. The Konkani books should be printed in two ways in Roman Script and in Devnagiri Script so that those who opt for Roman script can do so. And marathi should be out once and for all.

  7. The Varca long time smuggler is saying, that he will be on the parents side .He is the one who destroyed Goa and Goans. If he is given suitcase of money he will change his side any time. He is only misguiding the people. We have learnt lot from him and we all know him very well .Don’t think that we are fools. One fool has been caught by Bombay customs.
