HERITAGE LOVERS CRY FOUL OVER DEMOLITION OF A HERITAGE HOUSE

MARGAO: Heritage lovers on Thursday have cried foul over the demolition of a heritage house in the conservation zone along the Abade Faria road in the commercial capital.  Historian and heritage lover Prajal Sakhardande has demanded to know how the Conversation Committee has granted the permissions to raze down the heritage house in the conservation zone.
He told newsmen here this evening that the Goa Heritage Group has strongly protested against the permission granted by the Conservation Committee to demolish the heritage structure. “We condemn this action and protest against the demolition of the house”, he said, adding that the heritage lovers will chalk out the future course of action.  “We would not like to reveal our strategy, but certainly the heritage lovers would protest against the demolition”, he warned.

  1. How very, very sad. Every day we loose more and more of Our Goa. This should make every Goan very angry. It is like a death to more and more of our heritage. How can we allow this to happen??? Are we just ignorant low cultured people? If this does make you angry I don't know what will. This is a loss to our heritage and our culture. Future generations are going to be very angry we allowed this to happen under our watch. They should be rules that govern over these buildings. In the west they value their historical buildings and neighbourhoods. They are laws are so stringent; they do not allow you to even touch a piece of the building regardless if you own it or not! They realize the value of these buildings. Sadly, now this building will now be replaced with an ugly Ghanti building so as to make money. When I walked thru Panjim last year, I saw someone removing the old windows and doors from a beautiful Portuguese building. When I asked him where he was from, I didn't need to know his answer, I already knew he was a Ghanti. Sadly our people are becoming Ghantis too. Uncultured. Destroying our heritage is a crime. This event should not go unnoticed. Just as the women have objected to the movie Dum Maaro Dum and have not let up, politicians are realizing that they now need to take action. The same should be done with the destruction of our heritage buildings. We have lost so many after Ghantis started Invading Goa. Please, Please make some noise. Please push for laws like they do in the west to prevent anyone even altering these buildings. Imagine if someone had torn down our world heritage buildings? We would be going by photos of what was. So how is this different! Please, let's act like we have some culture, and that we are not Ghantis!!!!!~ Wake up, it is time to fight!!!! Stop the destruction of OUR Goa!!!! Kick the Ghantis out! Any Goans that act like Ghantis should also be kicked out of Goa!!!!
