ELECTIONS AND VITAMIN M by Adv. Aires Rodrigues, Ribandar

With electoral battles being controlled by money and muscle power the caliber and quality of the parliamentarians and legislators we elect is on the decline. Out of 543 MP’s in the current Lok Sabha 315 are crorepatis which is almost 60%. 43 of the 54 recently elected to the Rajya Sabha as MP’s are millionaires with their average declared assets over Rs 25 crore each.
The assets of an average Lok Sabha MP has grown from Rs 1.86 crore in the last house to Rs 5.33 crore which is a 200% increase. This wealth of our MP’s does not include much of the assets that exist in a colour not recognized by the income tax authorities. 150 of the current MPs have criminal cases against them with 73 of them charged with serious offences from rape to murder.
We have vested our destiny in awfully wealthy bunch of people many of whom have a criminal background whose only goal is to multiply their assets while our nation sinks. Today to win an election you need to be equipped with a strong dose of Double Vitamin – M. With a lot of money backed with muscle power you are through.

  1. The youths from my place want to join the Political College and want to become MLA's as soon as possible after reading different articles and true stories of how to become rich in a few months. Goondagiri should also be a part of these colleges and all the present MLA's should be appointed as professors. This is one profession where one don't have to struggle for a living. One don't need to serve the people, people serve you and you will never be short of crumb eaters sorrounding and protecting you. Be a politician to make fast bucks.

Aires Rodrigues you are correct, electing these ministers with good faith has turned them into criminals and looters of the states, with money immoral money earned they feed crumb eaters. There will never be a balance of evil and good, or all good unless we take to the streets and bring these ministers to their knees.Or kick them out for GOOD
