40 MLAs COULD NOT OFFER ANY VIEWS ON MOI IN DRAFT EDUCATION POLICY

PANJIM: None of 40 MLAs offered any views on medium of instruction in draft education policy whose copies were circulated to them by the education department.  The director of higher education, Mr Bhaskar Nayak, who had been entrusted with formulating new education policy for the state, said that he would submit the report of the draft education policy to the government on Monday.
Observing that formulating the new education policy has been a labourious task, the higher education director said the work had been entrusted to him in 2008, and the draft policy was ready in 2009. It was then sent for consultations to educationists, industrialists, school managements, headmasters committee, teachers’ panel, higher secondary education committee, primary education teachers group, besides various NGOs.
Mr Nayak said the education policy draft was placed before all 40 MLAs for their views, who made no remarks on the medium of instructions for primary education.  He informed that formation of the draft policy factored into local requirements for curriculum framework and considered various documents like national education policy and Kothari Commission report.
This has been done in view of the Education Minister, Mr Atanasio Monserrate’s promise on the floor of the Goa legislative assembly that the draft report of the new education policy would be presented to the government on April 11, 2011.  The step in this direction was initiated when the present Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat was the education minister.

How will the uneducated idiots offer views. They can offer views only of how to loot and fill their treasuries. Rascals of the first class.

  2. It is said that many of our MLAS are 8th Std. failed. To be a peon, you must have passed 8th. So they are not fit to be peons, but are fit to be the bosses of peons, clerks, office superintendents, Directors and Secretaries (IAS officers). How can 8th Std. fail comment on education policy?

  3. To stand in a crowd and express your opinion needs a lot of courage and esteem in one self. Its not that the 40 MLA's that we selected with our votes are unware of the current plight and diffuculties faced by fellow students. They are totally aware, but want to give a blind eye for their own selfish interest. If they were so ignorant here's a question for each of the 40 MLA's. Why did you all send your kids to English medium schools ? Why did you not send your kids to Konkani medium schools. For sure there will be no answer. This explains how our very elected MLA's make a fool of us. Lets stand for our rights and lets give our Child a brighter future by DEMANDING NOW ( since genuine requests have failed) English as the MOI and let all schools benefit from the grants sanctioned irrerspective of what medium is followed.
