KONKANI SUPPORTED TO PROMOTE REGIONAL LANGUAGES by Constancio Fernandes Chinchinim

This is with reference to a recent meeting which demanded that the current grant-in-aid policy for primary schools should continue without any change.  The mother tongue of Goa is Konkani, but Konkani is being supported out of frustration, to give a backdoor entry for Marathi, Urdu, Kannada, etc.
Those of us who are supporting grants for English-medium schools are not fighting to stop the grants to these regional languages. We are demanding that the grants be extended to English as well because we want bright futures for our children, we want them to be well-equipped to compete in this world. Moreover, how much is being done to develop Konkani?
How many people in Goa read Konkani newspapers? What is the language used to correspond with government/private offices? We have not asked anyone to stop patronizing their regional language. So please don't tell us what we should want for our children.
And please don't misguide others. We are asking for grants only to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor.

  1. Constancio is right. There is no demand to stop grants to schools teaching in the vernacular at primary level. The demand has always been that these grants should be extended to schools with English as the medium of instruction at primary level.

  2. I agreee with Mr.Contancio...Why are the 40 theives specking English inbetween their jugged teeth and forky tongues and then conduct strictly the house in Konkani English!!!...
What is the aim of Konkani??..Has the Goverment education policy inclusive or oriented towards usage of Konkani language criteria in its functionality, administration and secure JOBS for Goans both in public and private sector... then what is the use? IF Konkani is only limited to Gozali in Balcao or to negotiate price with the fisherfolk in the local Tinto or Fire some Galis( bad words) at the local Tavern and prononce rallies at Azas maidan..and Tiartr and mandos only??

Goans love their Konkani and protected it till today in all forms. We have to be wise and Goverment have to keep reservation for Konkani in schools to protect it and definately not at the cost of depriving Goans English education which helped them to secure Jobs not only Goa but also in Gulf and on Cruise liners.
First of all Goan Goverment failed to address the unemployment issues in Goa.
Instead of helping Goans ,,,,Another malicious attempt by the Goa Goverment to deprive Goans of their legitimate right to access for good and higher quality of English education which serves the international Tourism amd Hospitality Industry and mining exporters and Criuise Lines
DO THE FOREIGN COMPANIES TOURIST DO BUSINESS IN KONKANI OR HINDI or LIKE CHINA DO HAVE INTERPRETERS...What is the logic of having Konkani in Trade and commerce or clear cut strategy to establise PRIVATE ENGLISH SCHOOL MARKET where only the Rich peoples chidren will study quality education and the poor shall be deprived to created a deprived class of huge ultimate VOTE BANK....THIS current GOAGOVERMENT HAVE NO INSIGHT OR VISION FOR EDUCATION IN GOA. AFTER ALL WHAT ELSE U CAN EXCEPT FROM A SCHOOL DROPOUT EDUCATION FAKE CERTIFICATE EDUCATION MINISTER TO IMPLEMENT .??? back to square Voting fault of Goans ??You REAP what you SOW ..support GRA and get a third front candidates to get rid of 40 RAT menace.

  3. The truth is our ministers are puppets who are for their own selfish interests, that is the price Goans are paying for electing the same illiterate candidates to power. Even Indian movies dialect are in English, other states in India are teaching English to gain access to international markets. So why is The Goan Government reluctant to support it?

  4. @ Maersk

You are right and wrong; we Goans have not voted these corrupt Politicians, as you know Goa has a present population of somewhat around 1. 4 Million People, from that around 500 K are the real citizens of Goa /Portugal. The rest are all Bailos or Ghantties, which do not belong to the Goan culture.

So nearly a million people are a vote bank to these corrupt politicians, these corrupt politicians win because of these Ghantti votes. The present corrupt politicians do not represent Goa nor its true citizens, These present corrupt politicians from the invader Indian parties represent these Ghantties and their Ghantti language, be it Urdu, Hindi, Kannad still worse Marathi.

I’d say as these corrupt politicians do not represent us, why not have an opinion poll, we stopped traitors like Bandorkar killing us completely; we can also stop the corrupt politicians from ruining our Konkani completely. I’m sure an Opinion poll will get rid of Urdu, Hindi, Kannad and Marathi once and for all.

Let’s have an opinion poll, our children and the future of Goa should not be in the hands of traitors or the corrupt politicians and their invader Indian parties.

Dev boreem korrung ani mog assundi.
