PANJIM: The Goa State Commission for Women (GSCW) has lodged a police complaint against the movie Dum Maro Dum for 'defamatory and obscene depiction of Goa in general and women in particular in the trailor/clippings that are being released of the film'.
It has also held the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) responsible for not knowing what it was giving permission for.
GSCW chairperson Ezilda Dias Sapeco lodged the police complaint on Friday, and also met chief minister Digambar Kamat and home minister Ravi Naik on the matter. Speaking to TOI later, Sapeco said, "Bollywood has always been portraying Goans in bad light. We cannot tolerate this anymore."
The chairperson criticized the film censor board for allowing such derogatory remarks against a state of the Indian Union. She further said that making statements about 'freedom of expression' did not justify what has been done. "You are abusing your freedom of expression to tarnish the image of women and the state of Goa in order to market your movie and sell it. We will not tolerate your cheap gimmicks anymore. The people are coming together now," Sapeco said. – TNN
Why does Bollywood have to depict Goa in general and Goan women in particular in a defamatory and obscene way? Why don't they start closer home, they have their own "bare-all before the cricketers" who can be depicted? Nothing defamatory or obscene when it is a fact.
