JOHN FERNANDES MOVES SESSIONS COURT FOR BAIL

MARGAO: The accused in the Russian women rape case, John Fernandes has moved the South Goa Sessions court for bail.  His lawyer Adv Amit Palyekar moved the bail application before the court of Additional Sessions Judge, Vijaya Pol on Friday on grounds that the examination of the victim girl and her Russian female friend stands completed.
Moreover, Adv Palyekar pointed out in the bail plea that the Supreme Court directions to dispose off the trial within six months has expired on March 17, and hence prayed for bail to his client.
Hearing on the bail plea will come up before the Sessions court on March 24.  Adv Palyekar said the victim girl and her female friend has been examined by the court, adding that only the investigation officers now remain to be examined by the court.
Meanwhile, hearing of the Margao bomb blast case was adjourned to March 31 by the Sessions court on Friday. The case was adjourned since the Sessions court Judge U V Bakre has been promoted and sworn in as Judge of the Bombay
