Over the years, Government of Goa has been launching schemes for the benefits of segments of society such as the Dayanand Social security Scheme, handouts to motorcycle pilots, vendors, the dole for the unemployed on the employment exchange rolls, etc.
Besides the fact that it has been exposed by the government’s own vigilance departments that thousonds of the beneficiaries are ghost, fake bogus and ineligible persons, an analysis of the list of beneficiaries would reveal that large chunks of the ben eficiries are of NON GOAN origin.
Is it possible to start a campaign, a drive to demand that the first criterium for applying should be that the applicant be of GOAN ANCESTRY ( as distinct from RESIDENT in Goa)
I think we can demand that the first criterium for "approval of the beneficiary" should be that the applicant be of GOAN ANCESTRY and that preference will be given to applicants of Goan ancestry. Why not?
ReplyDeleteGoans, of Goan ancestry, should benefit first, and then others who have become resident of Goa but not of Goan ancestry.
I totally agree with Joaquim Correia Afonso with ancestry criteria. But a word of caution to all Goans. Now a days the government hospitals do not record the grandparents on the birth certificates thereby cutting the family tree. All Goans should insists that they fill the form completely.
