THIEF MEETS A DEAD-END WHILST COMMITTING A THEFT

MARCEL: In an unusual incident, a thief died after falling off a building while trying to escape at Haveli-Curti, Ponda, on Tuesday.  According to Ponda Police, the incident occurred at about 2 pm, when the unidentified man entered the second floor flat of the building at Kazi Residency, Haveli-Curti.

The thief entered the house by break opening the front door lock. Neighbours in the building became suspicious of the activities in the flat and raised an alarm.  Fearing his arrest, the thief ran towards the terrace and in an effort to escape, he jumped off the terrace and tried to leap into the terrace of another building.

However, he failed to clear the distance and ended up falling to the ground.  He was rushed to the ID Hospital in Ponda, where he was declared dead. Police later recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 60,000 and a digital camera from the deceased.
