PARENTS SHOULD SUPPORT ALL GOAN CAUSES NOT JUST MOI by Freddy Agnelo Fernandes, Dubai

Except on two occasions and may be a third one, we Goans have failed to fight on a united front. Except for the Opinion poll, Konkanni movement and may be for the SEZ and RP 2011, Goans have not come out to fight for the Goan causes until and unless they have found stones hurled on their valuable houses. The large gathering at the rally for MOI has proved it beyond any doubt that we are a shellfish lot.
There have been rallies after rallies against miners, mega builders and against corruption, how many of these parents supported these causes ? When last the GBA called on Goans for a protest march against the RP not even 300 Goans thought it prudent to support, when the GRA gave a call for support against corruption and other atrocities only around 7000 though it prudent to support but when it came to the future of our children around 50000 parents showed their solidarity.
I am not complaining about the large numbers of parents but where were the same parents when the GBA and the GRA asked for support ? How come only the education of our children is a issue and the welfare of Goa and Goans is not?
If our children are dear to us, Goa’s issues too should be dear to us, if Goa becomes a banana republic, if there is no law and order, if our environment and our ecology is totally destroyed, if we do not have water in future, if our rivers are silted and the waters get diverted into villages, towns and cities, if Goans become a total minority in Goa, if our health and other policies do not benefit us, if our police and politicians themselves become criminals and support criminal activity and even murder people at will, when there will be no more land for Goans in Goa, will it not affect our children?
If we parents manage to get what we want for our children, what will be the use if they cannot themselves survive in Goa? What if we all cannot survive in Goa ? What good will MOI do? I do not want to say the parents are wrong in fighting for a better future for their children, what I want to say is, future of Goa is also the future of our children. Let us all fight the axis of evil to protect and preserve Goa for our children and not just the MOI.
The GRA is organizing a rally on the 8th of April in Margao hope and pray all Goans including parents will find it prudent to support the Goan cause with their presence.  God bless Goans.

  1. Bravo Freddy, I fully agree with all what you have said. If the parents do not wish to come for rallies again and again than the other option they got is to elect good people to represent them.

I totally agree with you Feddy, well described. Parents and lay people gathered in large numbers when call was given to PTA, exactly as you said, someone threw stones at the house, they felt it and then only everybody came out and raise their slogan in one voice.
Similarly, people should not forget their responsibility towards our beloved Goa, if Goa can survive our children future will survive otherwise it would be like each one for themselve God for everyone. Please join in thousands to call given by GRA on 8th of April and show your solidarity with Goa. Some crook minded people are out to create communal discord within us on language criteria if we allow that to happen then we should not be suprised if Goa turns out to be another Belgaum as we see today.

  3. Viva Bab Freddy, so Rightly said, this is the very Problem we Goan's have, PRIDE and No Sense of UNITY, its like if you see a Man fallen down in the Market Place, most Goans will go around him and not even seem to care, then of course if that same Man was related, they’d expect someone to Help, they don’t realize it, that they would have done the same if that same Man was not known to them,
They say “You Reap, what you Sow”, today if we don’t support the Causes that will Benefit us Goans in the long run, what will also happen to our Children and their Children after that? Power is the People, all these Groups that want to Destroy our Goa, can’t stand a chance if we UNIT, after all who has the Authority, it’s the People, we don’t seem to exercise the Democratic Fundamentals – By The People, For The People, Of The People…. Unit… Unit before its too late.. Nobody wants our Children to say when they Grow Up, Wish our Parents had done their bit and Stood up to Save Goa for Us….. like we do right now for our Ancestors!

If we build a house with better foundation and structure and good strong roofing the cost of maintenance will be less. Electing good, educated and honest candidates the need to organize rallies for various causes would be less.

  6. Every adult Goan, be it parents or not has a duty to support all causes. Getting the right persons to power who can make the right decisions is very important. Many our present ministers derive from criminal and and less educated backgrounds, unqualified to make the right decisions except that to financially benefit themselves.
