That PD Dinakaran continues as Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court despite 16 charges of corruption and irregularities against him only goes to prove how fractured the current system is.

There are many judges who are honest and incorruptible but it is the likes of PD Dinakaran that bring the entire Judiciary into disrepute. Every judge has to have unimpeachable integrity and his conduct should be above reproach. Corruption in the judiciary cannot be tolerated so also there should be no room for incompetent judges. Corrupt or incompetent judges need to be speedily probed and dismissed.

Ordinary citizens knock on the doors of the courts as the last resort. There is need for some drastic action to treat this cancer of corruption that is posing a grave threat to the justice delivery system.
