MGP WILL NOT SUPPORT ENGLISH AS MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION

PANJIM: Congress-led Goa government on Saturday stood divided over the issue of medium of instruction (MOI), with one of the coalition partners opposing English.  Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), which is represented by two legislators in the ruling coalition, today said it would not allow English to be recognized as MOI, or even a grant or other financial aid being given to English-medium schools.
On the other hand, several Congress legislators including Education Minister Atanasio Monserrate have openly supported English as MOI, by participating in a rally last week.  MGP's Working President, Narayan Sawant, said at a press conference today that party supported Konkani and Marathi as MOI.  "We will continue our support (to Marathi and Konkani) even at the cost of ministerial berth," he warned.
The educationists, teachers and parents in Goa are divided over the MOI issue. While parents, including Goa Church's Diocesan Society of Education, are batting for English, there are others who say that elementary education should only be given in the local languages.
MGP's treasurer, Apa Teli, said both its MLAs, including Transport Minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar, would oppose any move to impose English as MOI. MGP supported Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) on this issue, he said. BBSM has organized a rally on April 6 here, to oppose English as MOI. – PTI

  1. Goans should organize their own rallies to counter non-Goan organization rallies. No non-Goan should be allowed to dictate Goan affairs. If we want English Medium so be it, and we should support it in full force.

Those who embrace and love marathi get lost to maharashtra there is no place for these bas'''rds in Goa. Goa belongs to Goans and not bloody crook's Indians with rogue culture. That is the reason nobody respect Indians around the world but we Goans are well respected anywhere around the world.

I have said it elsewhere. The Maharashtrawadis want continuation of aid only to vernacular schools because of their hidden agenda. If aid is extended to English medium schools, there might be an exodus from Marathi to English medium and the Maharashtrawadis cannot afford that. The more people with Marathi, the easier will be to merge Goa into Maharashtra if the neighbouring State manages to grab Belgaum District and neighbouring areas.
    We have to be vigilant.

  6. What the Hell is Wrong with these People, they want to dictate the level and laws in Goa? being outside parties, Wake up my Fellow Goans, Wake up before it is too late... come out in larger number, especially Parents,

These Organization, remember are not doing it for any gain of the Goan Children, their Parties and Organizations have been collecting dust over the years, so they will do anything to get a little Publicity, they will even sell their wife’s for that
They just want to find an excuse to get some publicity, am 100% sure deep inside they have no good intent its just for their benefit, honestly I wonder how many of these Guys Children have actually studied in the Regional Languages, I Love Konkani and will die for it, Hate the Idea of Marathi for Goa, Marathi is only for Maharashtra, but where Education is concern the Medium has to be English, or the kids will have a tough time trying to cope up as they reach Higher classes cause their English Base is so week,

And what the hell is “Bharati Bhasha Suraksha Manch” (BBSM), the Name itself is so Non-Goan, I bet major of the people in this Party are Outsiders…. Goa Wake up, Wake Up plsssss I beg you’ll before it too late…. But pls don’t Forget Konkani, every Goan Origin Child should know to Speak and Write Konkani, and we should be Proud of it, but as a MOI, its gotta be English!

  9. MGP's very existance depand on Marathi so its not a surprise for Niz Goenkars. When Sashikala dies I hope they will all cry at her funeral only in Marathi. MGP was ready and is ready to merge Goa into Maharashtra even today because they are all( potache)or sons and daughters of Whores from Mangueshi. Bandodkar was one and the same blood flows in the daughter.Let this election come and we all goans will give them a burrial once and for all. Long live Goa & Konkani.

Guys like the MGP and Sashikala Kakodkar should be physically thrown out of this place. They've ruined this place and are intent on further doing so. GOANS , BE ON A HIGH ALERT!!! English is the common link language worldwide and our Goan kids should not be deprived of being educated in English Medium, even if it calls for us to come on the streets. The time has come and we need to do just that!!!!!!! UNITED WE STAND DIVIDED WE FALL!

  11. Maha Gandu Party or whatever is a chor party.

We are fortunate in Asia to have mastered in the English language whilst preserving our own mother tongue in Konkani. Although the education was in Portuguese and in English before we were invaded by the Indian PIGS, we never lost our flare in Konkani, all our thearth Plays are in Konkani and not in Kokni, our 90% Mass in the church are in Konkani and a few in English.

These Hindu fanatics with few brainless Catholic Priests are trying to intimidate us, by saying English is a foreign language, these PIGS should know that the lingua franca of the Union of Invader India is English. (one can buy anything in Goa from a water bottle to high gadget equipment, all the explanation is in English)

In the future assembly election the people should not vote for candidates who want Marathi subventionised, people should vote for candidates who want English as the MOI:

There must be a way to have an opinion poll for English and Independence of GOA.

    Mog Assundi

  13. I had a heated debate with one of these marathi favouring student during my secondary school days. This guy came up with very lame reasons to back his argument. His mentor was another clever guy from across the road (he also had the same lame excuses) and was a prof in dhempe college.
My one question to MGP...are you still Maharashtrawadi..............??????????
There is not an single regional political party in India which says their allegiance is to another state, except MGP.

Or one day we will Greet each other “Diwas kasa hota?/Diwas kasa gela?” we’ll have to say bye to everything that makes us Goans….. : (
