GOVT HOSPITALS WILL NOT BE PRIVATISED AFTER CONSTRUCTION: CM

PANJIM: The Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat on Friday made a categorical statement in the House that no government hospital would be privatised in the future, once it is constructed.  The Health Minister, Mr Vishwajeet Rane also informed the House during the Question Hour that the consultant has submitted the final draft of Request for Proposal (RFP) to select the public private operator for the Mapusa district hospital. "After vetting by the law department, the same would be published in the last week of March 2011," he added.
Speaking further, the Health Minister stated that he would hold a special meeting with the leader of the opposition, Mr Manohar Parrikar, Mapusa MLA, Mr Francis D’Souza and the Aldona MLA, Mr Dayanand Narvekar and make a presentation to them as regards the PPP model to be followed for this hospital. "If these MLAs supply me with adequate inputs, I will include them in the RFP," he pointed out.
It was further informed that the present RFP, which has been prepared after cancellation of the earlier one, will have a number of additional medical facilities. "The selected bidder will have to start the hospital fully within a period of three months after the agreement is executed/signed including the ICU/ PICU, and the super specialities like cardiac care operational within a period of one year," Mr Rane mentioned.
