The Goa Government has now proposed of setting up of three 5-star hotels in coastal villages of Colva, Britonna and Baga via public private partnership model (PPP). This also includes several other projects like theme parks, shopping complexes and gaming areas as well as riverside marinas. As per Sports Ministry, the Rs.550 crore allocated by the state government and the central government is a part of ‘infrastructure development’ for the National Games scheduled to be held Goa in 2014.
At present the scenario along Goa's coastal belt is that maximum solid waste is generated is from these 5-star hotels leading to garbage problems, whereas untreated sewage is poured into the sea.
It is a sorry state of affairs in the sports infrastructure. I happened to work out for a day or two at one of the village gymnasiums in South Goa.Even the few equipments they have, are rusted due to non-maintenance of the same. To add to this, the authorities hike a fee without adding any equipment at the gymnasium. The same goes to the Nehru Stadium at Fatorda. A visit to the stadium clearly shows that it is not maintained regularly.
So, why is the sports department dead interested in building a hospitality infrastructure of this magnitude for just a sports event at national level? Would the athletes really stay in the posh hotels, and dine in these expensive restaurants? Or should we expect CWG-like multi-crore scam in National Games-2014? Only time will tell.
Very good development, our Goan boys will get jobs in these hotels. First and foremost, we can employ Chorchill's pilot son as security guard as he is not yet employed by any airline (they must be surely believing that his pilot's license is fake). Piglet can be employed as In charge of Security Guards. Babu from Azgaon, Maharashtra can sit outside polishing shoes. We can ask Aleixo Sequeira to put up a Cigarette stall outside the hotel, Chorchill can employ all his taxi fellows along with Joaquim. Sharda Rathod, aunty of Mauvin from Ghanti Nagar at Zuari can start a "Pimping Center' in alliance with Chordessai, the supplier. Ravi Naik can start Matka and "godgodo" booth beside the road and outside thee hotels, his son can pimp to sell charas. Dayanand Narvenkar can sell fake tickets for the games to the guests in these hotels. Police too will have their share of threathening and looting the guets. Ranes will also get gainful income by levying 10% commission on everything that is sold around the hotel. This is a good development to show the World how rich Goa id and how everyone is gainfully employed.
ReplyDeleteThese scoundrels will not do any projects those will benefit us Goans but all for the sake of outsiders, filling their own pockets and enjoying free doles. Nevertheless, they will die a cursed life and suffer in hell and their living generations will eat fire.
Does anyone think that we need these hotesl? Do we really need the International Film (Call it Filth) Festival? Can the aam aadmi be benifited by these events? Outsiders enjoy and go at our cost, that too a five star life.
