GRA MEET AT AZAD MOIDAN WAS RESPONDED BY ABOUT 6000 CROWD OF GOANS

PANJIM: Today’s meet at the Azad Moidan was attended by a crowd of about 6000 people from all over Goa. Goans showed their solidarity by attending the meeting at the call of GRA. The people showed their anger at the current set of corrupt politicians that they mean business
The topmost looters of Goa, Churchill Alemao and Digambar Kamat was depicted as Pigs on big posters as they rightfully deserved that.  Churchill is behind all the betrayals of Goa including the Mopa Airport cause after taking bribe in crores.
The meeting started with a band and Musician singing Konkani songs about Goa by Sonia Sirsat, Varun, Seby.
There were lots of speaker for the meeting, some priests and even our Goan Muslim brothers who too joined the meet and spoke for the meeting... More the 6000 attended as they have said. It was attend by people from all over Goa, right from the north (Tiracol) to south (Agonda, Cananguinim, Canacona) there where lots of buses from different parishes and there where some Nuns too.
Churchill Alemao & Kamat depicted as Pigs
There were lots of poster displayed around the place, even a coffin which said 40 MLA's in was taken around with band along with it, seen on the pictures, They basically spoke about all corruption in Goa, regarding mines and lots of corrupt MLA's. They asked all our Goa people not to Vote for the old Politicians, but to get someone new within them self.
People showed their enthusiasm in attending the meet in such large crowds. Yes Goa needs this change and all the old politicians must go, above all the sellers of Goa like Churchill Alemao the most of all destructors of Goa. Churchill has fully planned to destroy Goa. One of the attendees said that when anyone approaches Churchill Alemao’s daughter Valanka for any work she takes ten percent of shares for her social service. So he said that why do we need these people. Others said that Churchill Alemao, Digambar Kamat and Ravi Naik are the biggest thieves of Goa.
It was thrilling to see such a vast crowd for the meet. People from every nook and corner came to the meet. The people gathered at Azad Maidan under the banner of Goenchea Rakhondarancho Awaz (GRA) resolved to demand special status for Goa, elimination of bogus voters from the voters’ lists, protect identity of Goa and Goans, stop illegal mining and stop selling land to the outsiders.
The four resolutions were read out by Mr Yatish Naik from Margao after criticising the functioning of the traffic police and the police department in itself. Mr Naik asked the people to defeat all the forty seating members of Legislative Assembly in the forthcoming elections. Referring to the personalities on the dais, he said that these people are not leaders and would never seek any mileage from this platform and would also not contest any election in the state.
Even if the present political leaders come to them, they would not welcome them, he added.

  1. Thank you all Nig Goenkars for showing your love to motherland Goa. The time is come for all the 40 chors to go in hibernation. the picture showing Don Quixote and Sanchez Panja as pigs will be an instant hit among the Goan diaspora. If the Goans get rid of these two pigs along with Ravi, the drug peddlar;Monster Rat, the rapist;and the Ranes, the land merchants there will be some satisfaction for the Goans.

  2. Our problems will be only be solved through Independence, the rest is all bla- bla-bla.

This is only the start. Once we Goans rise there is no stoping.

  3. BEWARE GOANS IN THE NAME OF NATIONAL HIGHWAYS

It is 24 years since the government acquired 2,500 acres of private land from people of karwar and Ankola talukas to build 'seabird', the biggest naval seabase in Asia.
However, the compensation has become a mirage for the people who lost their home and hearth for the naval base. The land acquisition process for the project costing Rs 25,000 crores began in 1986.But the compensation distribution has run into a controversary. As a result nearly 25,000 people of 8000 families have become homeless.
These people had sacrificed their land to strenghten the defence systen in the country. However, they are yet to be compensated. The government had paid just Rs 150 per gunta. Those who lost their land went to the court saying that the sum was to meagre.
The Additional Civil court (Senoir Division) directed the government to pay Rs 11,500 per gunta. However, the defence department appealed to the High court against the lower court order stating that it was not possible for the government to give such a huge amount. The case now lies in the Supreme court....
The people from Karnataka and Kerala are facing the same problem when their land and houses taken for the national highway 17.....
This is just a reminder for Goans. Our CM and PWD Minister are both fooling the Goans. The Goans should be very careful before parting their houses and land to make way for higways and bridges. The people should take written assurance from the government according to their terms and conditions. I f the government takes land by force the owner have ful right to defend in the court. The Goans should not fell prey to the corrupt congress government who want to loot and plunder Goans in the name of national highways.
As the land is very scare in Goa , the national highways should be restricted to 30 metres and not an inch more.

  4. It was great to see people gather in this number in spite of it being a working day. The most important thing to note is that people do have the sense of awareness in them and know what their rights are, and are now aware how they are manipulated. There is a limit to brain washing people. This awareness is just the beginning to any revolution that has taken place in any society.
May this fire of change that has been ignited bring in changes for the better in the interest of our mother land from the clutches of the looters.

  7. Thank you GRA for bringing alive the sentiments of the Goan people through this meet. We need to keep up the pressure now and educate the blind and the freeloaders of these politicians to change their stance and unite with the Goans to chase away all the squatters from Goan soil.We have to bring a change now and from 6000 we will grow to 15000 and then to 50000 and then we will ignite the fuse and blow away the rogues and save Goa. Come on my brothers and sisters, wake up and lets support GRA and take back our land from the ghanttis.

Thank you Goans for showing your presence at the meet at Azad maidan. Please bear it in mind this is just the begining and as we go ahead and reach to evey villages more and more people will understand the real fact what is happening within Goa and I have full faith and hope people of Goa will realize what they need and what to discard. For any good thing to happen definately it takes time, for that matter we should have some patience till everything falls in place. Yet we have next 15 month with us to do more study and prepare ourselves to reach to the masses.
Keep it up guys and not to loose hope, day is not far for dream to come true.

It is heartening to know that such a big crowd, of over 6000 people, gathered at Azad Maidan, heeding the call given by Goenchea Rakhonddarancho Awaz, to raise our voice against evil and bring up the important issues affecting Goa and Goans - special status for Goa, protection of Goa's identity, deletion of bogus names from electoral rolls, stoppage of illegal mining, control on mega-housing projects, among others. That people from every nook and corner, from Tiracol to Polem, made it possible to attend in large numbers. That priests and nuns, too, attended. So also our muslim brethren.

This shows that people have awakened, that they are aware of their rights and the need to fight for them. People now know how they are being fooled by the politicians in power. Still, there will be many who will fall prey to the lure of feni and cash, besides goodies like fridges and TV sets, distributed by politicians on the eve of elections in order to attract votes and continue their nefarious activities. Such people should open their eyes to the reality that the bonanza is short lived and not for their welfare.

I hope that more and more people will realize that present-day politicians are self-interested, they are greedy and evil intentioned and should, therefore, be discarded. In the intervening period till the next elections, we have to find honest, hard working and devoted people to be fielded as candidates, who have the welfare of Goa and Goans at heart.

  11. 6000 people is the beginning of solidarity, being a working day I guess there were not many younger generation Goans. Taking the GRA meetings to every village and educating Goans mainly the younger generation (who are losing hope)must be a priority. I pray Goans will learn to unite for the sake of Goa.

Thank you to whoever thought of the poster of Churchill and Kamat as Pigs which they certainly are. They are the true pigs of south Goa there are some other Pig politicians too in the south. Navelim should get rid of their pig in the next elections and in Margao get rid of the pig and the Moti Dongor Ghantis too.
THE GRA meeting is just a beginning and we hope that it becomes a success. It is vital to make an impact on the lives of every Goan be it young or old. I hope the current generation will bear the fruits of the labor.

  13. All the people who are asked for bribes from the panchayat and other government officials, please do write a small note to the editor of this forum with the name of the beggar asking for alms. Let us highlight the name and start naming and shaming the individuals. Let us now start this naming and shaming exercise as then I feel the others might stop the dirty habit.

Let us build up the momentum and grow in numbers for the next GRA meeting. Viva Goa ..Viva Niz Goenkar.. Viva GRA

GRA has opened the window for each one of us to expose and remove the corrupt politicians of Goa. We thank each and everyone who made it being physically. Some people came from as far as Canacona, young and old. I appreciate our volunteers who made it and I was there right in the midst of the organizers known by my real name and some who used fictitious names was a mystery man. However, whoever contributed was for the cause and for Goans. The organizers also thank Niz Goenkar who gave us wide publicity like some other few organizations. We feel sorry for some personalities who backed out at the last moment showing inability to attend due to political pressure.

  15. GRA meet at Azad maidan was an instant hit. The people of Goa have to take everything step by step, and now the people have to gather at Carmona to bring down the Raheja project. we dont want any congress rule in Goa,as 6000 like minded strong Goans can make a lot of difference. Get rid of Rahejas first then every thing will follow. The people of Goa should should keep PYRE ready for Don Quixote and COFFIN for Sancho Panza as their days are nearing.

It was good to know that there was a tremendous gathering of Goans from all creeds and they all agreed that the present politicians both governing and opposition have to go. I do hope that they spread not only this message but that the ones that were in both governance and opposition from the begining are not voted back in the Assembly for they are liable to be puppets. Goa needs a totally new set of MLA's then only will Goa prosper a mixture of the old and new will never do..I hope the Goans believe in judgement day which is not far away and vote with their conscience rather than with their pockets. God Bless Goans and Goa. Give us the strength and courage to save our beautiful island from the Demons

I agree with Diogo. There should also be smaller meetings at village level. This gives the Villagers, tailored information, on the destruction of their villages. by the current Politicians.
If I am correct, during the State Elections, MLA`s hold meetings at per " village level" or per "group of villages".
This is a start for GRA.Lets hope they will remain cohesive (united), as they are made up of NGO`s ,and each has a different agenda.
This large gathering is a good start. But as Goa is made up of mainly Villages, that is the place where peoples hearts need to be won... on their very doorstep.
Many will have been unable to travel to Panjim.MAny will have been at work, Colege or even schools.
Saturday evenings or Sundays would also be the best day to hold meetings as people are more relaxed and more likely to be at home in their villages.

All Sarpanchas are corrupt, You may have read here or elswhere about one woman from Nachinola taht has been arrested.
I can quite categorically tell NG readers thatt the Sarpancha of Colva is very corrupt.I also believe the Sarpancha of Benaulim is a big time bribe taker.
Majorda Sarpanch too is known to be a Legendary Drunk and was recently questioned about her Immigtration status. The Majorda Sarpanch is locally known as a BEBDEA (drunk Lady). The previous Sarpanch, Laxmi Gonsalves was sacked for holding (Like Mickky) a USA PaAssport.or citizenship.he BDo`s and Town planning too are all knee deep in corruption.
Lets see if the new scheme Kamat has proposed will work, where each official will have to provide a resolution date (resolve by) and a reason if a job cannot be completed due to errors.
Many villagers are not educated and so get taken for a ride. Some are known to take loans to pay the bribe and in doing so, deny their children basic neccessities.
People returning from the Gulf Countries , wishing to construct houses are the ones that are made to pay huge bribes.
This bribe taking as far as I am told is given the blessing of MLA`s.Miccky and Churchill approve of this practice.
A friend of mine ( from Nuvem) that returned to London from Goa told me he paid Rs14,000/= to Majorda sarpanch to get his work approved. That was also following a visit to Miccky. No doubt Visitation D`Silva is enjoying this Rs14000/- with a constant supply of BOOZE.
Those that do not pay a bribe will simply get their work delayed or made to run from Pillar to Post.

  19. Better late than never, GRA has started the march, let us wish them good and move along - forward. I hope those hungry for power to become new MLA's through this organisation will not sabotage the efforts after realizing that they cannot contest elections through GRA. Publicity seekers and self glory hunters should be aware that this organization should not be abandoned for personal gains after realizing that this is not a party.

    additional excerpt from Indiatimes...
"With the gram sabha recently moving a resolution to not issue the project a licence unless all its details were placed before the village body, Rajneesh, a 'Bhagwan' Osho Rajneesh devotee for 30 yea', said, "I have almost made up my mind to pack my bags and leave Goa. The climate here is not conducive for the project anymore. They don't even know the laws. There is too much exploitation. We are fencing our property and moving out of Goa"
"Alleging he was asked a bribe by the sarpanch—refuted by sarpanch Dattaram Gaonkar—Rajneesh claimed Goa would be the loser if his project shifts out of the state."

  21. Hello Dalia,

Still in Portugal or Germany, or back in Goa???

Dalia, let me write a smal verse (in fact it is a song), so here it goes:

    ****

I loved and loved you so much and thought of making our future bright
But when you deserted me for good, I don't think you gave me a fright
Only thing you did was, with your high aspirations, took me for a ride
I am still fighting to let you know that since you left me, I never cried

I will always be the beautiful and the bold
I regret that, to one man, you surely cannot hold
It was the devil who tempted you beyond your dreams
And all I hear now from you is regrettable screams

I know your new lover keeps on calling you everyday
But when I used to call you, I didn't even ask you to pay
Enjoy your dreams my love, until you realize your folly
I am also enjoying myself, for I am happy and jolly

And athough we loved each other much oh, so much
I don't believe in love no more, it's the thing of the past
You came to me like a bolt of lightning and left me so fast
I am ending my verses with no regrets, but with total disgust

  23. Thank you Joe Goa UK for your lovely video on GRA meet at Panjim. This GRA meet reminded me of the Konkanni language rally at Panjim nearly 23 years back which I had attended with my friends. This is D.Justin who stormed in cine national , Panjim and forced out all the movie watchers for konkanni rally .It is so sad to see mostly middle age people at the meet as the young generation roaming with politicians for crumbs.

Please excuse be if I am wrong; has the GRA lost its steam? traveling around Goa I have spoken to many Goans and only a few mention the names of the members, but nothing about GRA. Election are not far away next year but as one politician mentioned to me it could be this December, while everyone is busy during Christmas "Ghanti vote banks don't celebrate Christmas". Be alert Goans do not go to sleep.
