GOA AG SUBODH KANTAK LOOSES BATTLE AGAINST RTI ACT

PANJIM: The Goa State Chief Information Commissioner Mr. Motilal Kenny has today directed the Chief Secretary of Goa to appoint a Public Information Officer under the Right to Information Act in the office of the Advocate General of Goa.
Pronouncing his order today on the complaint filed by Adv. Aires Rodrigues against Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak, the State Information Commission has further directed the Chief Secretary of Goa to ensure that the Advocate General’s office also complies with Sec 4 of the Right to Information act by displaying all information pertaining to the Advocate General’s office on the official website.
The Commission has today ruled that the Advocate General of Goa is a “Public Authority” and does come within the purview of the Right to Information Act.
Adv. Aires Rodrigues had filed the complaint against the Advocate General of Goa Mr. Subodh Kantak for not complying with the provisions of the Right to Information Act.
Advocate General Subodh Kantak had argued that the Advocate General was not a “Public Authority” and does not come within the purview of the RTI Act.
Adv. Aires Rodrigues however submitted that the Advocate General was very much a public authority his being a constitutional post and even enjoying cabinet status.
Welcoming today’s judgment Adv. Aires Rodrigues has stated that it was a victory of the RTI Act which was enacted to ensure transparency and accountability in the functioning of every government authority.
Meanwhile the Goa State Chief Information Commissioner will on March18th at 10.30 am pronounce his order on Goa Governor Dr. S.S.Sidhu’splea for constitutionally immunity in the RTI case filed against him by Adv. Aires Rodrigues.

    Well done Aires and congraulations.
One "Idiot" (Subodh Kantak) gone down, and another "Red turbaned Sardar Idiot" (Siddhu ) soon, to go down too.
Make sure this Idiot Kantak also returns all the money he has been paid in excess of his actual position.
The excess paid could be well spent in a Hpospital or home for the aged.

The judgment pronounced by the Goa State Chief Information Commissioner is a welcome judgment. It will ensure transparency and accountability of public authorities, specially those occupying constitutional posts.

  3. get the Sardar out of his hole and leah him. Is he not the one calling the Chor of Margao the best man of Goa? Paape... you do not understand anything about Goa. Likewise, if Goans firr-gaya na, they can be worst than sardars.
