PANJIM: Adv. Aires Rodrigues has today expressed surprise that the Home Minister Mr. Ravi Naik and the Chief Secretary Mr. Sanjay Srivastava were unaware that the cost of repairs of the official police car crashed by former Inspector General of Police Mr.K.D.Singh‘s son was paid by the Goa Government.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that the Government itself had officially informed him under the Right to Information Act that the 4th December 2009 car crash by the son of Goa’s former IGP, Mr. K.D.Singh while driving his father’s official Toyota Innova GA-07-G-0063 had cost the State exchequer Rs 4, 33, 200.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that the information furnished to him had disclosed that the Goa Government had given financial and administrative approval for the repair of that vehicle and had also decided not to recover the amount from either the former IGP or his son.
Siddharth Singh, the IGP’s son was driving his father’s official vehicle along with his friends to a night club at Vasco when he crashed the vehicle while also damaging two electricity poles.
Adv. Aires Rodrigues has stated that while the damages of the vehicle were borne by the government, the former IGP’s son was also not being prosecuted for illegal driving and crashing a government vehicle.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that Director of Prosecution Mrs. Shobha Dhumaskar had in her legal opinion given on 22nd February this year opined that the IGP’s son should not be charge sheeted in the accident case that was registered against him.
The Director of Prosecution in her opinion had stated that despite the heavy damage to the vehicle, there was no evidence of rash and negligent driving and that it would be difficult to prove the case against the IGP’s son Sidharth Singh.
While former IGP Mr.KD.Singh and his son who was unauthorizedly driving his father’s official vehicle are scot free, Adv. Aires Rodrigues has alleged that it was an irony that in another case a police driver was being penalized though involved in an accident in discharge of his official duties.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that Rs 1833 a month was being deducted from the salary of Police Driver Mr. Vinod Malvankar for an accident involving a Police van driven by him. Adv. Rodrigues has stated that police constable Mr. Vinod Malvankar is being penalized despite the Additional Sessions Judge and a police departmental inquiry as well ruling that he was not driving rash or negligently.
Adv. Aires Rodrigues has stated that if this government had any respect for the rule of law it should recover Rs 4, 33, 200 from former IGP Mr. K.D Singh and also prosecute his son Sidharth Singh in the accident case in accordance with law. Adv. Rodrigues has also demanded that Director of Prosecution Mrs. Shobha Dhumaskar should be asked to explain as to how she high handedly recommended that the accident case against the former IGP’s son be closed.
When anyone reads about this whole incident, it seems like, the IGP and his son are some sort of Foreign Emmissaries that get "DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY".
ReplyDeleteIt is a terrible tragedy for Goa and Goans that people in POWER or RESPONSIBILITY, believe they are above all LAWS.
People at the helm of Governance and administration should display a good example. They should be Leaders and champions of Ordinary Citizens. However in Goa it sems like there are 2 LAws. One for the rich and mighty and another for the ordinary, poor and underclass.
In most civilised and Law abiding countries...the IGP`s son would have been treated as an offender. He would be made to pay for the damage caused and be given a punishment.
In Goa he seems to receive a Gold Plated Throne to sit on an an immunity from an offence.
There is surely a "Cover-up" of this issue.
The Police and Politicians live off each others pockets.
This is no way to run a progressive State.
Te "dirt" on this IGP`s son has been exposed.
which Carpet or bed does he think he can hide it under.
Goans hope justice will be seen to be done in this case.
Mrs. Shobha Dhumaskar should be sent back to re-learn her profession and retake her exams, or better be be sacked for dereliction of duty.
I guess many will conclude that Mrs Dhumaskar has been paid off (in Rupees) to close this case.
The OATH of OFFICE has been broken and this is also an offence to GOD.
In this case, all guilty should be punished or hanged in public. This is public money that is wasted on investigation. The evidence of the crime is destroyed by none other than Police Dalal PI Dalvi himself by covering the damaged vehicle before sunrise and towing it away from the scene of crime. The culprits were minor, one son of Alex Squirell, the Chor of Loutolim and the son of IGP himself with other minors who returned from disco parties, hovering all around fully drunk. After this incident, PSI Dalvi became PI Dalvi, wiping away all departmental enquiries against him for corruption and cheating. This is a classical example of how Goa is looted and innocent people are cheated. Take the case of Atala escaping out of the country with the help of Gua Pulis and the Home Minister himself to save his son. Take the case of so many crimes those are gone undetected.
ReplyDeleteThe bigger the crime committed by a person, the bigger status he enjoys in the political and criminal fraternity of Goa. Would you expect a change in law and order when Goa is ruled by thugs and criminals?
