CHURCHILL TRIES TO SAVE FACE ON MERGER STATEMENT

MARGAO: Reacting to the controversy he has kicked off in Karnataka, over his remarks on merging certain areas of Karnataka to Goa, the PWD Minister, Mr Churchill Alemao, on Saturday defiantly argued that if an opinion poll was held today, 99 per cent of the people living in those areas would opt for a merger.
This statement of Churchill came in as a face saving for himself and avoiding more embarassment. According to the Karwaris they have no intentions of merging with Goa as defined by Churchill. Our correspondent in Goa spoke to a few Karwar residents who on condition of anonymity flatly rebuffed Churchill’s above claim. One who identified himself as Ravi Pednekar from Uttar Kinnara said that Churchill has lost his mental balance and hence is springing up with new foolish ideas of making money for his personal accounts.
Ravi also said that none of the Karwaris are ready to join Goa as they are happy there with ministers and politicians who are lesser corrupt than Churchill Alemao and others in Goa Assembly. Another person said that Churchill is trying to save his face by his statement of sticking to his statement of merger. They also said that he is using Ravidra Kelekar for his own means to make money out of it.
Reiterating that this was not his idea but the idea of renowned Konkani protagonist, Ravindra Kelekar, he said that people from that area come to Goa for employment and said that even though the area was represented by Ms Margaret Alva, not much development had taken place there.
Speaking at a press conference at a Margao hotel on Saturday, Mr Alemao said that even though a complaint had been filed by someone over some comments he had made at a function at Sadhashiv Gad on Wednesday, the complaint had not been entertained by the authorities.
The comments were made at a function organised by Gadinadu Nagarika Vedike at Sadashivagad near Karwar, and he had apparently asked for the support of Konkani speaking people of Karwar and surrounding areas to merge the area with Goa.
He however did not back down from his views on the merger, saying that the people wanted the merger and it would be beneficial to the state as the area would increase. This area that Mr Alemao is talking about is slightly larger than the Goan land mass but has around 11 lakh Konkani speaking people.
The Kaiga project and the Seabird project come within the area, that is said to be rich in minerals like Manganese, but is not developed and there had been lot of complaints from locals against discrimination by the local government.
On Friday, after the function, Janashakthi Vedike president, Mr Madhav Naik had filed a complaint against Mr Alemao accusing him of provoking the Konkani speaking people of Karwar against the Kannada speaking locals, in a written complaint to Uttara Kannada SP Mr Raman Gupta.
He alleged that Mr Alemao had made a speech against the Karnataka government alleging that successive governments in Karnataka had neglected Karwar, in Konkani majority areas, that compared to Goa, there is little development in Karwar.  The complaint also alleges that Mr Alemao asked the people to agitate against the Karnataka government and separate Karwar and other Konkani speaking areas from Karnataka.

I doubt BIG LIPS will fair much better Father Pig.
There is a strange phenomenon taking place in Goa.
Seems like every MLA`s wife or daughter or son is a "SOCIAL WORKER" AND THE SONS PILOTS OF SOME DUBIOUS TRADE.
So I guess, the street cleaner can call himself a Street Pilot,A toddy -tapper...Toddy Pilot,a Peon..a runaround Pilot, A fisherman...a Fishing Pilot. etc

  3. Dear Readers,
Do you think this Ducor Chorchill has lost his mental balance? No dear No! he has got his brains under the illiterate skull. His mind is working for the agenda to be put in the next coming election. He knows how to play his card systematically. Every time he comes with some or the other pretext and ideas to gain sympathy votes. After springing into politics, he thinks he has brought laurels to Goa. After feeding few crumbs eaters, he thinks he is in heaven doing the most wanted social works along with his daughter in the State. When he became CM, he could not withstand the sight of the CM’s chair, because he did not know how to sit on a rolling chair. Then he set in the Delhi Parliament and spoke in Konkani and telling people that he is the only persons to have spoken in Konkani. He came out with SAVE GOA propaganda and instead of saving Goa, he destroyed it completely. Now for the next election, he has to have some agenda to convenience the people and give them a royal mandate and it is now to merge with Karwar and tell people that he is giving more area by widening the frontiers of Goan borders. He wants to keep the ball rolling for the next generations to come so that he has all the support of the people. What an idea sirji. But he doesn’t know that his time is at hand to go into the coffin and 6 feet under the ground RIP.

    Courtesy Economic Times:
I am sure Churchill will have a hand in this Project.
How many Goans can affort 8-10 crore for a dwelling.?

MUMBAI: In a bid to grab a substantial share of the growing luxury real-estate market, leading developer Nitesh Estates has launched a Rs 300 crore high-end villa project in Goa.

International architects CPG and interior design firm Warner Wong have designed the project, Nitesh Fisher Island , targeted at premium-end customers.

To be developed across 9.3 acres in the picturesque landscape of Goa, the project would have 36 luxury villas and will be completed in two to three years, the company said.

"The natural scenic beauty of the location was the most compelling reason for creating this villa community. It is located on the banks of the river Sal and is close to the pristine white sandy beaches in South Goa," Nitesh Estate's Chief Operating Officer, Ashwini Kumar, said in a statement.

Priced at Rs 8-10 crore, the project is targeted at the upper-crust from India and abroad, who are looking at owning an exclusive property, Kumar said.

"Luxury knows no bounds and the properties are designed to include everything that pampers your soul, mind and body. It is for those jet-setting people who are looking to steal quality time and are looking for a resort-like experience," Kumar said.

Each villa has a spa and a private swimming pool, beside, having a common water sports, jetty and everything else that one could desire for, he added.

Over 70 per cent of the project area is covered with landscaping and water bodies, which have been designed by international landscape firm, Belt Collins .

This Project NITESH FISHER ISLAND is to be built in Cavelossim.
There seems to be several "Residential" Luxury Projects /Complexes proposed to be built in Goa.
Does Goa really need more Residential homes costing 8-10 crore.
Prudence would have suggested Jobs are more important, which come with opening more Businnesses, rather than Luxury homes that will be used only for part of the year by its rich owners.
For sure some of these Homes will be bought for speculative reasons. They will never be occupied ...but will eventually be sold off for a higher price.
One can also be assured that Goa`s Very Corrupt Ministers will have a slice of this Cake.
The one with the biggest slice will be Churchill.
I hope the Dwellers of Cavellosim and surrounding areas will stop this development. It serves no purpose or adds nothing to the economy of the village itself or Goa as a whole
    .
It is being built for the benefit of just 36 people & their families....all very rich to, I must say.

  6. These Goan politicians the Alemaos, Mauvin Gua-fudinho, Alexio Sequeira, Ranes, Naiks and the rest are nothing but rogues and criminals. All out to promote their own family members so that they can keep a strong hold on their power and loot Goa and Goans.
