PANJIM: Making his stand clear on the medium of instruction, Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar has supported the primary education in the mother tongue. Quoting the guidelines of UNESCO, Parrikar said that Konkani and Marathi schools would be finished, if grant-in-aid is given to English schools. It looks like that Manohar Parrikar has forgotten that only KONKANI is the mother tongue of Goa and not Marathi. As Parrikar appears to be favouring marathi by involving it too in Goa as the mother tongue.
“We can’t play to the gallery,” Parrikar said referring to Zero Hour mention by Deputy Speaker Mauvin Godinho on the medium of instruction issue.
Participating in the debate on the general budget, Parrikar said that United Nations themselves has resolved that primary education has to be done in the mother tongue. “The resolution is adopted by United Nations… Not by BJP,” he said conceding that his stand against English medium might make him lose some goodwill.
He feared that the Konkani language will be reduced to mere dialect in next two generations, if English is allowed to be medium of instruction. “In three generations, the Konkani language will be finished,” Parrikar said.
The leader of opposition said that Marathi language will survive as it is protected in Maharashtra. “UNESCO has said that the primary education has to be in the mother tongue. Mother tongue is the language of native and not the language which mother speaks,” he clarified.
Narrating his personal experience, Parrikar said that he learnt in Marathi medium school till seventh standard. “When I went for IIT, I was not able to talk proper English. Now I can speak English fluently. This is only because of my habit to read,” the leader of opposition said.
Speaking about the budget placed on the floor of the House, Parrikar lauded few of the concepts proposed in it. But he said that it lacks thrust in education. He said that there is no push for the education and development in the primary education level seems to have come to a halt.
We do not need politicians like Parrikar to tell us what to do and what is best for Goans. We need not go to school to learn Konkani. It comes to us naturally since it is our mother tongue. Politicians must listen to the Voice of the People whom they represent. Thanks for your advise Parrikar. What made you to send your son to USA. You could teach him in Marathi by sending him to Maharashtra. We know how much you love your mother tongue. Your God only understands Marathi. This is why Goans and particularly Christians hate BJP. Don't tell us what United Nations have to say. Listen to me what they said before that ' INDIA INVADED GOA'. And they said it WITH RESOLUTION. Please implement it. Understood !!
ReplyDeleteYeah right. Due to these double standards you lost to Monserrat in the Panjim elections. Marathi has no base in Goa and you can take your marathi and shove it you know where.Education in Goa has to be in Endlish with Konkani as mandatory second language. You must have passed from IIT but we don't know how. Probably you lied and manipulated your way through as you do in this political circus. You don't have an ounce of knowledge about administration of your self and your house and you want to lead our state eh? You want marathi go and drown yourself in Maharashtra. You and your bunch of rogues are nothing but a curse on Goa.
ReplyDeleteWhile your offspring are being educated abroad in english what right do you have to impose marathi on Goans. Our curses will be on you and you and your offspring and you will never be prosperous if you push marathi on our young minds. Why don't we have a vote on this and see whats the outcome. Let us what the general public wants regarding their childrens education.
One day you will grow old and will not be as powerful as you are now and that time you will not be able to fend for yourselves all you bunch of baddies. I will grow and become a young man and then if I see you anywhere I will throw chappals at you and spit on you. We are young now but we will grow and so will you Then I will be strong and you will be at our mercy.
This is a cry from the heart of a Goan child and being brought to you by Clunha. Don't push it.
Parrikar is speaking with his tongue in his cheek. Don't just say mother tongue. There is only one mother tongue in Goa and that is Konkani. So when you give your speech Mr. Parrikar, say it clearly that Primary Education will be only in Goa's mother tongue, Konkani, unless you are the offspring of Bandodkar and trying to bullshit Goans. Those days are over. So go somewhere else and dream your ill-intentioned dreams.
ReplyDeleteWe've to get rid of Invader Indians, if we do that then Marathi and Hindi will go by itself. Independent GOA is the answer to all our solution and problems, Parriker is mentioning UNESCO he should know that our case of Independence is still pending at the UNO:
ReplyDeleteThis rogue from Panjim talking about UNESCO to impose local language in School as MOI. If these rascal has courage I ask him to talk about UN, Goa was Invaded and not Liberated. If you have juice in your balls idiot open your mouth otherwise shut-up you ass..le marathi dog. We Goans don't need your dirty advice, we know what we need and what to give to our children.
ReplyDeleteEducation should be in the mother tongue for those who find the language of the colonialists - Portuguese, English, Dutch, French, Belgian - too difficult. Most Goans - the present generation - are at ease with English and the parents want their wards to be taught in English so that they can do well when they go for higher studies. It is not everyone who reads and is thus able to speak English fluently. Drive into any village, ask a question in Konkani and you will get a reply in English. This has been my experience.
ReplyDeleteApparently Parrikar admitted somewhere that his education was in marathi and he struggled with with english in his academic years. Just because he has struggled does not mean everyone else has to follow the same path and struggle, when there is a more sane option. I was first introduced to written konkani in the 5th Standard, I struggle a bit because the rules of writing were not taught, I finally managed to learn the rules from a govt primary teacher (I went to a missionary village school)and from then on writtting in devnagri Konkani, hindi, marathi is become walk in the park. On the other hand, my neighbour who had to learn konkani from the first std, struggled a lot with english and more so in history, geography, science etc etc.
ReplyDeleteI am sure this is the case all over Goa and hence there will be ample evidence to suppport education in english medium.
Parrikar has righttly pointed out that marathi is protected by maharashtra, hence there is no logical reason for goa to do the same. Goa should protect only konkani i.e not give equal status marathi.
Who the hell is is this idiot called Parrikar???? He thinks he knows everything about everything just because he studiied in an IIT at that time obscure stream of METALLURGICAL ENGG when there were not many takers for this course. He is a hardcore communal and casteist person and so thinks well only about high caste hindus, who can afford to educate their children in english medium schools by paying high fees.
ReplyDeleteHe has been reduced to a non-entity by Babush and brutally exposed by Babu Azgaonkar as anti-lower caste and anti-bahujan samaj. He is feeling very jittery now with Babush declaring that he will contest from Panjim and so as is the habit of BJP will try to incite communal passions by fuelling this type of language, medium of instruction, any issues with communal undertones inorder to polarise the electorate along communal lines.
He is just a media creation and has done zero development of Panjim as an MLA and just takes cover under the excuse that the CCP is ruled by opposition. If he applies that logic then he should move away from Panjim as the CCP will be ruled by Babush for the nest 5 years.
I appeal to the so-called intellectuals from Panjim - DON'T TRUST THIS CHADDIWALLAH. He is the biggest danger to GOA. Don't get fooled by his sweet talk and tip of tongue statistics. The intentions of the man matter and he has shown his true colours during his brief reign as CM when he was supported by illiterate people like the same Babush and the joker from Betalbatimj- mini mouse who off-late gets trapped frequently.
