PANJIM: Strange but true a mine owned by a senior NON GOAN Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader is amongst 17 mines which have been termed illegal by State Forest Department. As per the reply given by the Forest Minister Filip Nery Rodrigues to the state Legislative Assembly, the department has already filed complaint against the manager of the mine, which is owned by Prafulla Hede, NCP’s state coordinator.
“Ramratan Vaidya, a mining manager at Hede’s mine located in Collem, near the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, had already been booked in course of the enquiry conducted by the Forest Department,” the reply reads.
The State Mines and Geology Department has already booked NCP’s national secretary Jitendra Deshprabhu for illegal mine at Pernem. The department has initiated procedure to recover the penalty of Rs 1.7 crore from the leader.
Apart from this; the department has also identified five mines operated by companies owned by Vedanta Resources as illegal. “Three separate complaints were filed against officials of Dempo Mining Corporation and Sesa Goa Ltd for illegal mining in forest areas in Bicholim and Sanguem,” the reply reads.
“The Goan public should also note that the Non Goans have started owning mines in Goa and that too illegally. A check should also be undertaken on Sharad Pawar’s ownings in Goa” said Sadanand a Bicholim small timer who worked in mines before shown the doors on false implications.
According to the President of Goa Barge Owners Association Shri Atul Jadhav, the iron ore mines in Goa are of a low grade. I wonder why these non Goans want to own a mine . Maka dista tankan Goencho GHU passun boro lagta.
