ADVOCATE GENERAL SUBODH KANTAK’S RESIGNATION DEMANDED

PANJIM: Adv. Aires Rodrigues has today demanded the immediate resignation of Goa’s controversial Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak. Adv. Rodrigues has stated that Mr. Subodh Kantak had lost all moral authority to continue as Advocate General of Goa more so now after having lost his battle against Right to Information Act.

If Mr. Subodh Kantak does not quit he should in public interest be sacked, demanded Adv. Rodrigues.

Adv. Rodrigues has stated that it was an irony that Mr. Subodh Kantak did not even understand the basics of law in claiming that the Advocate General’s office was not a “Public authority”.

Adv. Rodrigues has also demanded that Goa Chief Minister Mr. Digambar Kamat and Chief Secretary Mr. Sanjay Srivastava should stop shielding the illegalities committed by Goa’s controversial Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak.

Adv. Rodrigues has stated that though the Bombay High Court had six months ago forwarded to the Chief Secretary of Goa a complaint of professional misconduct against Mr. Subodh Kantak no action has yet been taken by the Goa Government against the Advocate General.

Adv. Rodrigues has stated that with almost every decision taken by the government being challenged in the Courts it was very evident that the legal advice being tendered by the Advocate General was flawed.

Adv. Rodrigues has further stated that India’s highest paid Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak who has been paid over Rs five crores over the last five years was an unnecessary financial liability to the State exchequer.

Adv. Rodrigues has also stated that Mr. Subodh Kantak instead of upholding the dignity and decorum of the high constitutional post of Advocate General had tarnished the image and sanctity of the Advocate General’s post by running it like a private office with his family and friends aboard.
