PANJIM: The Sub Divisional Police Officer and the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr Deu Banavlikar Monday informed that a teenager from Chimbel, Amitabh Arun Borkar (19) was found brutally murdered near a fountain in Merces, next to the Hindu crematorium, in the wee hours of Monday.
The Old Goa police have taken some people in their custody on suspicion and they will be interrogated in connection with the murder.
Addressing the media Monday evening, Mr Banavlikar said that the injuries reveal that the murder may have been an outcome of old enmity or revenge. The deceased had multiple stab injuries on the face and neck and the body was lying in a pool of blood, informed the police.
After conducting the panchanama, the cops shifted the body to the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim for post mortem examination.
The deceased was medium built, having a wheatish complexion and sported a small beard and a pony tail. He also had a tattoo mark on the back. He was wearing saffron pant with blue strips on it and a beige coloured t-shirt. The deceased’s sister identified the body from the clothes worn.
The police informed that a sharp weapon like a kitchen knife or a paper cutter could have been used to commit the murder. It was also informed that the deceased had a huge friend circle from Chimbel, Merces and St Cruz areas. The police also informed that the deceased had not returned home for a couple of days.
These crimes are a result of our so called liberation. Goa's laws and punishment are not harsh enough to deter criminals.
