GOVERNMENT SHOULD RECOVER COSTS OF VEHICLE REPAIR FROM THE FORMER IGP , SAYS AIRES

PANJIM: Adv. Aires Rodrigues has demanded that the Goa government should recover from the former Inspector General of Police Mr.K.D.Singh the amount of Rs 4, 33, 200 spent on the repairs of the official vehicle crashed by the former IGP's son.
In a letter to Chief Secretary Sanjay Srivastava Adv, Aires Rodrigues has also stated that if the government had any respect for the rule of law it should prosecute the former IGP's son Sidharth Singh in the accident case in accordance with law.
The 4th December 2009 car crash by the son of Goa’s former IGP, Mr. K.D.Singh while driving his father’s official Toyota Innova GA-07-G-0063 has cost the State exchequer Rs 4, 33, 200. The IGP’s son was driving his father’s official vehicle along with his friends to a night club at Vasco when he crashed the vehicle while also damaging two electricity poles.
Adv. Rodrigues has in his letter to the Chief Secretary also demanded that Director of Prosecution Mrs. Shobha Dhumaskar should be asked to explain as to how she high handedly recommended that the accident case against the former IGP’s son be closed.
Director of Prosecution Mrs. Shobha Dhumaskar had in her legal opinion given on 22nd February this year opined that the IGP’s son should not be charge sheeted in the accident case. In her opinion she stated that despite the heavy damage to the vehicle, there was no evidence of rash and negligent driving and that it would be difficult to prove the case against the IGP’s son.

    I agree with Aires Rodrigues.
why should the Goan Taxpayer foot the bill for the car repairs.
I am sure the IGP , who is a Public figure must take responsibility for his sons actions.
The car was issued to the IGP solely for Business purposes...not for jolly and drunken jaunts by his son & friends.
Has the Goa Govt. taken out any 3rd party insurance, allowing anyone to drive the car?
If not then the cost must be borne by the IGP for gross neglience.
I am sure he ,(The IGP) would have signed an undertaking that the car would be used solely for "DUTY / OFFICIAL" purposes.
It is plainly unfair to expect the Public to foot the bill.
If not enforced,Ttis will create a Legal precedent, where by, all Official Vehicles can be used by anyone and for any purpose.
Personally I feel this is a a gross violation of the IGP`s official duty in respect to the use of the car.
However I guess , the Director of Prosecution Mrs. Shobha Dhumaskar will seek all excuses available to protect the IGP.It is a corrupt practice of Goa Govt. & its agents..."PUNISH THE POOR & REWARD THE RICH".This is called Goan democracy and Fair justice.
Shame on the IGP.He should be sacked for not taking any responsibility.

  2. According to sources, the amount payable is drawn in a clandestine manner. There is more firework going to happen.
Any other accident that happens in Goa is due to rash and negligent driving or driving under sedative condition. IGP's son and the son of the Powerless Minister Squirell were drunk at the time of commiting the CRIME. PSI Dalvi aka Dalal of the Gua Pulis Dept hushed up the case and became PI overnight. As long as CHORS rule Goa, nothing will change.

I doubt the government will ever recover the money from the IG or his son. They in fact had a share in the amount which actually is not the right amount. If the work is done of 50 rupees the bill will be of 5000 rupees another two zeroes will be added.
