FREE TREATMENT FOR GOANS AT MAPUSA HOSPITAL ENSURES GOVT: WHICH GOANS? GENUINE GOANS?

PANJIM: A top level official in the state administration has said that the government would ensure that all Goans visiting the new North Goa District Hospital for treatment at Mapusa would be treated free of cost. The hospital is expected to be thrown open later this month.
The question is which Goans are going to get the treatment free. Is it going to be the genuine Goans or those who acquired Goan citizenship thanks to the politicians of Goa? Can the Goa Government answer this question of the public?
The official further firmly ruled out privatisation of the hospital saying that the government would also ensure in the concession agreement with the private partner that all the assets of the hospital would vest with it and not with the private operator and the same pattern used in the Goa Medical College for treating the patients would be used in the new district hospital.
He further said that majority of the hospital staff would be of the Goa government and that the private partner would bring in specialists to run the super-speciality departments, like the cardiac care, cath lab, etc to be started when the hospital was operationalised fully. He also said that better services would be provided to the patients.
Stating that the intake capacity of the hospital had been raised from 190 to 290 beds keeping in mind the future requirements of the people of the North Goa district, he said that only a fraction of the beds would be allowed to be utilized by private operator. "You don’t built hospitals every now and then," he said.
The official also stated that the government had decided to invite fresh tenders under open biding system (request for proposal) to operate the hospital under public-private partnership as the previous bid under expression of interest invited by it attracted a singular operator. The fresh tender would be out later this week, he added.
The general Goan public would get better quality and more services, if the hospital was run under the PPP mode, said the official adding that the private operator would help the government offset a substantial part of the expenses, which was expected to be much higher due to increase in the bed capacity and other facilities created by the government.
He went on to add that the whole tendering process was being overseen keenly by the Chief Secretary, Mr Sanjay Kumar Shrivastava, and that the process for selecting the tender and completing the formalities to ensure that the Bombay High Court order was met was already set in motion by the state government.

  1. Yes which Goans are we talking about? Gantis have Goan ration too, they also have forged documents in Goan names. Goans are strangers in their own land. To many promises for before elections but none are kept.

  2. They should not harp this hospital treatment as free for all goans, but as free for all in goa. Many poor migrants will not be able to afford private treatment. I understand some of you will object to this, but please whilst we are fighting for our land, our rights, against our 40 chors and other criminals in our midst, let us be humane to the poor. Most goans are religious.

  4. I fully agree with Neville. The migrants were brought to Goa by our current Chors who are sitting on a pot of Gold with the help of these migrants' votes. But these migrants, if the fall sick, will not be able to afford treatment from our private hospitals or clinics which are miking patients who can afford. The 40 chors will turn a blind eye if the migrants approach them for medical help. The chors only need them during elections. We are all humans but that does not mean that we Goans should allow an uncontrolled of flush of these ghanttis to enter Goa. It is high time we got rid of these dukors, murderers, monster rats, mickey mouses, cowmuths, et al.

  6. In response to this article, a hospital should provide treatment to all who require it, with those less able to afford getting priority regardless if their goans or anybody else, simply because that is the right and humane thing to do. If anybody has doubts, imagine getting stranded in another country and cannot afford private hospitals or doctors, and you require medical attention, how would we feel if we are told, the natives first, you sir will be looked once we clear all the natives.

  7. Most of the Goans take treatment in the private hospital. The corrupt politicians loot the people in the name of the poor Goan people. The PWD minister was selling water tanks to the hoteliers in the name of the common people and the gutter rat Rane jr will do the same with the hospital. The Goans should be vigilant in futrure and thwart all hunky punky plans of the chor politicians.

Goans are soft hearted and humane in nature, seeing this Ministers having taken advantage and destroyed Goa for their financial Gains. Non-Goans too have done the same, among the so called Migrants there are many criminals who survey by day and rob us by night.
