MARGAO: This budget will see the allocation of funds to make the Margao’s Kadamba Transport Corporation bus stand the "best in the world", promised the FAMOUS FOR ONLY PROMISING Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat while inaugurating the online e-booking counter at Margao, on Tuesday, as a part of slew of measures to improve the working of the KTC and upgrade its notoriously sub-standard bus stands.
Mr Kamat flagged off three new Volvo buses - one to Mumbai and 2 to Shirdhi as well as 5 local buses.
"I will ensure that the Margao Kadamba bus stand becomes world class," Mr Kamat, who is also the local MLA said after opening the e booking counter and launching the website in the presence of MLA and chairman of Kadamba Transport Corporation, Mr Deepak Dhavalikar.
As far back as July 2009 the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation was reported to be working on a proposal for a brand new multi-storeyed complex at the KTC bus stand in Margao to serve not only as a modern bus stand for inter-city and inter-state buses but also as a commercial hub.
The KTC had forwarded the proposal to the government that approved the concept and forwarded it to the GSIDC and it was supposed to utilize the sprawling 66,000 sq metre of prime land located at the entrance of the commercial city, which at present is an open space.
The new complex is expected to require some ` 200-` 300 crore of investment for which a public private partnership model is yet to be worked out.
Mr Davalikar, who is the brother of the transport minister, in his speech promised to revamp the KTC bus service. "I will try to improve the service by getting new busses. All old ones that have passed their prime will be sold off," the chairman said.
KTC, an autonomous transport wing of the state government, though doing good service, especially its shuttle service, but is known for its failure to maintain its buses in a good condition, and generally suffers a loss, having to depend on the government for budgetary support.
Elections are not very far away that means more promises are in order. The only persons believing these politicians are the their crumb eaters, because they are dumb to think for themselves. The other block votes these politicians are the Ghanti Vote Banks. The third world country are revolting against their dictator leaders, Goans too need to do the same.
ReplyDeleteI agree that we need a good transport system in place but has any one considered of providing the Aam Admi his basic Necessities of life? WE have water shortage where the taps are dry most of the time, talk about the power supply. Do we have a steady supply of power on any given day? Even the power supply sometimes is not available for 24hrs of the day. Talk about the Garbage issue .There is litter everywhere. Thanks to the promotion of Ghantis everywhere. Has this been addressed and resolved ? NO. Elections are approaching round the corner. I dont blame the Govt , they have to show some form of development...
ReplyDeleteOur Government only plans of building castles in the air without having any concrete foundation anywhere. I wish they can get these basis needs of the common men set right first ...........Then talk of all their major dream projects.
Dickhead Kamat should first educate his all India imported riff raff to behave and teach them cleanliness. He wants to uplift KTC bus stand eh? He should teach his ghatti types to first keep themselves clean and to live like humans and to respect public property. The money he wasted on that stupid commode, he should have first got proper and cleaner busses. The fool is ready give us high quality plates when there is no food. It is time he retires and goes back to school and re educate himself on the basic requirements of society and leave the government machinery to Niz Goenkar and the New Goan Peoples Party to be launched soon. I pray that day comes soon and I promise I will be there to cast my vote.
ReplyDeleteThe transport system has been a thorn in every Goans life. Before the elections there so many promises overflowing but none are kept. The only promises kept are the ones given to Mega housing developers because the returns for politicians bank balance is higher.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt Digu Kamat has this vision, where all the homeless, paan spitting and open space defecating Ghantis will have a place to sleep at night. The bus shelter will be used for this purpose at night.
ReplyDeleteCowmuth, the king of AC toilets will keep promising new things every day, the elections are near and they want to loot again for the next five years. Hell with Cowmuth and Congress ministry of the Chors.
