POLITICAL CARNIVAL AT FATORDA

MARGAO: The Fatorda Carnival Fest organised by We for Fatorda – a Vijay Sardessai initiative -- at the SGPDA grounds here on Tuesday evening literally turned out a political carnival of sorts.  Though Bollywood actress Amisha Patel was the cynosure of all eyes at the impressive festival, the function acquired political overtones simply because of the presence of politicos – right from Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, PWD Minister Churchill Alemao, Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao, Sports Minister Babu Azgaonkar et al.
What further raised eyebrows was the presence of NCP leaders including Tourism Minister, Nilkhant Harlankar and Party chief spokesman Trajan D’Mello sharing the dais with Congress leaders.
That’s not all. Nothing stopped the Congress leaders from making a humble appeal to the audience to rally behind Vijay Sardessai in Fatorda in the coming Assembly polls and elect him to the Goa Legislative Assembly.
Kamat, who celebrated his birthday on Tuesday, solicited support for Sardessai’s dream to make Fatorda a model city. He appealed to people to support Sardessai in all his endeavours.
PWD Minister Churchill Alemao referred to Sardessai as the future MLA of Fatorda, adding “let us pray to God that Vijay becomes a legislator.”  Incidentally, Alemao said that actress Amisha Patel is the grand daughter of a political figure, even as he called for support for Sardessai’s candidature in Fatorda.
In his address, Sports Minister Babu Azgaonkar complimented Sardessai for organising the Carnival programme. “The people of Goa need you. The government is solidly behind Vijay. He needs your support,” Babu said.
Complimenting Sardessai for reviving Adieus Carnival in Fatorda, Urban Development Minister Joaquim Alemao urged the people of Fatorda to support Sardessai in the development of the constituency.  In his address, Sardessai said the Fatorda Carnival Fest will be a regular feature in Fatorda in the years to come a la Varca’s Fat Fat Saturday.
The Bollywood star did not speak much, but complemented all the women felicitated at the festival o n the occasion of International Women’s day and emphasised the need for women empowerment.  The founder of United Club of Fatorda, which organised the popular dance Adieus carnival were felicitated on the occasion.

  1. It would have added more fun and frolic if the Alemaos had come with pig's mask,Digamber with toad's mask, Azgaonkar with monkey's mask and Sardessai with rabbit's mask.
