CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY TO PANJIM by Freddy Agnelo Fernandes, Dubai

Never before in Goa the Municipal, Panchayat and Zilla election, been so very generous to the people. Yes, generosity during the Assembly and Parliamentary elections has always out done the gracious festive seasons. But today at every petty election generosity pours down in the form of cloud bursts and Babush Monserrate has been out doing all his contemporaries, not just by yards but by miles.
So all of a sudden why have all the petty elections been hijacked by our elite politicos ? Why have these petty elections become the most sought after ? The answer to these, is in the large funds at the disposal of these once miniscule bodies. The one who controls these once miniscule bodies controls the strong currents of funds diverted to these bodies and hence is in a position to dictate terms and conditions tilted in his or her favour. These petty bodies are now become very viable source of income for our corrupt politicians hence the abounding flow of generosity.
If not, why on earth would our top political masters spend crores of rupees on elections to these petty bodies ? By the way what is our election commission and the enforcement directorate doing about it ? The laxity of these two bodies is a worrying factor for the general public. Our corrupt politicians flaunt their disproportionate income in every which way they can and both the election commission and the enforcement directorate are watching with fingers stuck up their nostrils.
With the divide between the rich and the poor ever widening, the people who are more than responsible for this divide, our corrupt politicians take full advantage of the abject poverty of the poor people and entice them with goodies and cash in exchange for votes. How long will this go no ? For how long will money continue to dominate the substance in votes ? In a democracy performance and integrity should have been the defining factor of the out come of every election. Unfortunately our corrupt politicians have amassed so much wealth that buying votes will not even make a dent in their arithmetically calculated and accumulated khazana of wealth.
Goa is a highly literate state but unfortunately literacy does not guarantee wisdom not does illiteracy guarantee idiocy in fact it is just the opposite in

Both the election commission and the enforcement directorate is just a Joke. There is a price the Politicians pay for them to turn a blind eye, to carry out their wrong doing of feeding the crumb eaters. I doubt any agency has the guts to stop these politicians, as they are part and parcel of the corrupt Game. Goan dignity has declined due to the political Crumb eaters, eliminate them and we will have a better Goa. .

  2. It's not the Candidate who speaks, it's the party that makes him speak, The Candidate is just the microphone of any party, for e.g. if Congress is voted in power the needs of the congress are more important then the needs of that state and the candidate.

Irrelevant who is the Candidate the party shows the candidate the way, we have seen it in NCP, Congress, Shiv Sena and so on.

We've to vote in for that party that wants Independence for Goa. All the rest is complete totally Bullshit. The Invader Parties of India will do what ever they want in Goa. The Invader Indians with their corrupt parties will destroy Goa even more further, if we don't consider the Party and only take into account the candidate. In 1984 ? the then Congress leader Mr. Rajiv Gandhi used a lot of Film actors to win the Election. He did win the Election with a big Margin, those Candidates didn't have the right to speak, the Congress party of Rajiv did all the speaking and robbing.

  4. Due to the recession and unrest in Arab world most of the Goans will be heading home. The situation in the west is not so promising any more. As the jobs in Goa is given to the highest bidders , the unemployment will rise and create all the problem for Goans. The Goans will only then reacts like Egyptians ,Libyans and throw out the corrupt politicians.

Absolutely true that is the reason why we concerned Goans should form our own regional party by the people of the people and for the people. If all the Goans living abroad are allowed to cast their vote which is their constitutional right we will not have these corrupt politicians winning elections over and over again from different parties like old caju fenny in new bottles.
