PANJIM: The controversial question in general that the public asks is when the Police Drug Nexus case was flatly refused to be given to the CBI for investigating, then WHY should CBI be involved in extraditing ATALA? Has the Home Minister Ravi Naik any answer to this question of the public?
Goa police on Tuesday said it had given all documents over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for the extradition of alleged drug dealer Yaniv Benaim alias Atala, from Peru to Goa.
Addressing a press conference, police PRO Atmaram Deshpande said, "The CBI has been seized of all matters. We have given all legal documents to the CBI. They will get in touch with Interpol who is following up the case with the Peruvian police. It's a lengthy process, but he (Atala) will be brought to Goa," Deshpande said.
Goa police were informed on Saturday by Interpol about Atala's arrest in Peru in South America. A Red Corner Notice was issued by Interpol against the drug dealer, who had jumped bail granted by a local court in Goa and had fled to Israel. The case had also seen seven cops arrested for their role in the police-drug mafia nexus.

Why was the case not handed to the CBI when there was such a strong demand from every corner from the very begining? Is it because all evidence has been wiped out now or is this just another way to fool the public?
