BJP TRYING TO MALIGN MY IMAGE: SUBASH SHIRODKAR

PANJIM: Former Shiroda Congress MLA and president of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Subash Shirodkar has rubbished the claims of present Shiroda BJP MLA Mahadev Naik that the water shortage in the constituency is a 'ploy' by Shirodkar to 'malign' his (Naik's) image.
Reacting to the charges, Shirodkar told TOI that Naik should first learn to manage the civic amenities to the public for which he is elected. "I am disappointed that despite being with me for almost 10 years, he has not learnt how to be of help to the general public. I will be the last person to have these kind of wicked thoughts of causing water shortage to the people. This is in bad taste and does not suit my culture. If required, he can come to me for help in managing the constituency," Shirodkar said.
Shirodkar claimed credit for initiating the water supply network for the entire Shiroda constituency covering almost 5,600 out of 6,000 houses. "Now the job is only to provide regular water supply. It is a shame that he cannot even manage the regular supply of water by organising periodic meetings with the PWD staff. Instead of making these allegations, let him spell out how many meetings of the staff of PWD and electricity department he has organized over the last 4 years and what were the strategies suggested and adopted by him to ensure regular supply of water and electricity," Shirodkar said.
Shirodkar said it is very easy to pass on one's inefficiencies onto others. But one must see that four fingers are pointing to oneself, Shirodkar said. (TNN)
