UKRANIANS BEATEN UP BY LOCALS AT CANDOLIM

MAPUSA: Three Ukrainians were injured in a scuffle at Candolim on Tuesday night, informed the Calangute police. According to the police, the complainant, Ms Ohera Sedoruk, 22, from Ukraine alongwith eight of her colleagues were walking to a disco club at around 11 p.m.
While they were walking along the road a taxi driver enraged over the fact that the group was blocking the road, got off his taxi and slapped one of them. The incident took place near Newton super market. Seeing their colleague at the receiving end the other eight of them pounced on the taxi driver. At this point some people who saw and thought that the foreigners were assaulting the taxi driver joined and began assaulting the tourists, informed the police.
The police then arrived and brought the scene under control. Later Ms Sedoruk lodged a complaint at the police station stating that she along with her two friends, Mr Ruslan and Mr Sarhiy Kwachuk were badly assaulted by the locals.
Mr Ruslan received a sharp injury on his chest suspected to be of a small knife while Mr Kwachuk sustained head injury from a brick. He was taken to the health centre at Candolim and then to the GMC and finally to a private hospital.  A case of assault has been registered against unknown persons by the Calangute police. The police sub-inspector, Mr Harish Gauns is investigating the matter.

One misunderstanding and the tourists get bitten up, our politicians have drained Goa of its wealth and we let them walk free. Can we hire these Thugs to hammer the politicians?
In this case will the police do their job without being bias or will some politician come to the rescue of the taxi driver and the gang.

  3. I don't condone violence but this is a clear sign that frustrations have been breached with non-Goans coming in and disrespecting us and OUR Goa. The more we push ‘Tourism’ in it's current form we will see more of the same. The youth of Goa are being destroyed with drugs, loud and wild music blasting all day long, prostitution, gambling Casinos, alcohol.....all in the name of this ‘Tourism’. Do we really want to pay such a high price for this ‘Tourism’? Leave alone the land grabbing and the concrete jungles, garbage and lack of water…..The current Tourism Minister is having a fine time in the US on a one month holiday living in the most expensive hotels, eating the most expensive meals for one full month??? Anyone in his or her right mind would question how is this possible???? India is such a poor country leave alone so many are barely getting by with one meal. The whole story of generating business from the US is a farce. You think Americans are going to come all the way to Goa for the beach when they can hop on a 30min flight to the Caribbean? Who are these people trying to fool…. possibly the people of Goa, as I have yet to find anybody see a problem with the above. I should also remind you all too, that it was not only the Tourism Minister but also his entourage that have traveled on this costly trip at the taxpayers expense for a grand time. That immoral Mickey enjoyed his time on similar times when he was Tourism Minister while moving his funds to overseas accounts. I wish someone would sponsor me for one month to live it up touring the world!!! I should try for political office in Goa as nobody seems to bother how you send the taxpayers money. One last point, one can see how disgusting these politicians are……..wasting and indulging themselves like the King of France while their people go hungry! Shame!

  4. Woohoo. Way to go Me Goan Brethren. Its time to start kicking these unwanted tourists with their immoral activities back to their shit hole. Tourist should only be tourists and not try to capture the local land and the locals. All these Ruskies and Israelies and nigerians and iranis should be thrown out now or we will regret it in the future.,

The day I see Goans "whip" the Police and Politicians, I will have a celebration.
Hopefully this day should come sooner rather than later.
I am sure all of Goa will rejoice.

This story has to be treated with care, as I am sure some of you will agree, that some Goan Taxi drivers have no road manners or courtesy, when they are transporting passengers (notably Foreign), they get a little boisterous. One reason is they get good tips if not a fare more or in excess than it should be.
Many Tourists have complained of Goan Taxi drivers ripping them off.The main offenders are the (Non GOAN)Taxi Drivers that have come from other Indian States.
As far as the Ukranians go (in this case), perhaps being in a group, they have acted carelessly.Perhaps some may have been drunk or drugged.
