SECTION 144 OF CrPC IN FORCE AROUND ASSEMBLY COMPLEX FROM 16TH MARCH

PANJIM: The North Goa district magistrate has imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, within 500 m of the assembly complex, Porvorim and areas under Panjim police station.  The order will be in force from March 16 till the end of the budget session of the state legislature.
The order prohibits the assembly or collection of five or more persons, the carrying of firearms or weapons of offence such as lathis, swords, daggers or spears, burning of fire crackers near petrol pumps and at meeting venues, use of loudspeakers and shouting of slogans in public places, streets, roads, squares, thoroughfares or any open space.
Public servants on duty, bona fide marriage or funeral processions or other special occasions are exempted from the restrictions.
