PANJIM: While the BJP has disclosed its intention that it is in favour of forging an alliance with Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) assembly election which might happen much earlier than May 2012, the MGP says it would think about it only after it receives a formal proposal from the BJP.
“Let them send a proposal to us,” said Lavu Mamletdar, General Secretary of MGP when asked to comment about the statement of BJP Goa in-charge Gopinath Munde.
During his visit to Goa last week, Munde had said that his party is open for an alliance with MGP. Mamletdar however clarified that their party was not in a hurry to form alliance. He was addressing a press conference on Monday here.
The MGP, which has two MLAs in the house, has declared its intention to contest at least ten seats in the forthcoming election.
Replying to a question whether MGP will forge an alliance with the Congress party, Mamletdar said, “anything can happen,”
Mamaletdar who contested from Ponda in May 2007 assembly election, had given a tough fight to Home Minister Ravi Naik.
Asked to comment on the home minister’s performance, he said people of Ponda want to send him home.
Replying to another question Mamletdar also clarified that they were not endorsing any panel contesting the March 13 CCP elections.
Felicitation: About eighty Marathi stage artists, who have performed on Marathi plays but never been recognised for their contribution, will be felicitated as a part of Bhausaheb Bandokar Birth Centenary Celebration Committee, Mamletdar said.
