He said, “I have been undertaking the second phase of this project which will estimates round about 6.24crore and will be completing the said work before deadline”. The project deadline is 25th February 2012.
Selected site is just less than a kilometre from market and would be developed into a two section a bus stand and an auditorium. Beside these a provision is also made for Joggers Park, parking arrangement for buses, rickshaws and two-wheelers. Sources also disclosed that the connecting roads which are narrow would be widened and the entire area in the vicinity done up to give it a new look. Significantly more attention is given on the work of landscaping of Jogger Park which will be a classic example of architectural work. The highlighting part is except domestic water the water requires for landscaping will be utilised through the water harvesting process as a small stream.
A local explained the difficulties faced by the Valpoi people due to lack of bus stand and added that soon after the operation of this bus stand the traffic congestion at the centre will be vanished.
However, approaching road is very narrow and had a small bridge which according to the people has to widen and adjacently a new bridge has to be constructed for smooth flow of traffic. Meanwhile, few people express that the bus stand project will be another white elephant like at Honda and Ponda bus stand. Simultaneously, few shopkeepers in the heart of the town around the existing bus stand fear the shifting of the bus stand would adversely affect their business.
