PANJIM: Adv. Aires Rodrigues has today in separate letters to Goa ‘s Chief Secretary Sanjay Srivastava and Law Secretary Pramod Kamat drawn their attention that the Goa Law Commission is being misused by a private trust “Goa Organisation for Law Finance and Education” formed by Ramakant Khalap and three others to set up an International Arbitration Centre.
Adv. Rodrigues in his letter has stated that Goa Law Commission was set up with a specific mandate clearly spelt out in its terms of reference.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that it was very evident that formation of a trust and setting up of an International Arbitration centre was beyond the scope and the tasks entrusted to the Goa Law Commission.
Adv. Rodrigues has further stated that it was very apparent that the Chairman and members of the Goa Law Commission by misusing their position have formed a private trust purely as a commercial enterprise.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that the Goa Law Commission has been sought to be involved in the setting up the International Arbitration Centre to legitimize this planned fraud.
Adv. Rodrigues has called upon the Chief Secretary and Law Secretary to direct the Goa Law Commission to explain under what authority it was setting up an International Arbitration Centre and that all money unauthorisedly spent on setting up the said centre should be recovered from the Chairman and members of the Goa Law Commission.
