PANJIM: Reacting to raids on the factory and office of health minister Vishwajit Rane, Rajendra Arlekar demanded that investigations against Rane should be done by the enforcement directorate of the finance ministry and that the investigations should cover activities and funding of the Satari Yuva Morcha as also the setting up of a hospital at Bambolim by a foreign company called Elbit under the public-private-partnership model.
Arlekar said the income tax raids on Rane should have come long ago. Further, the investigations should include activities of the Satari Yuva Morcha, which is seen to be spending lavishly with donations in Satari and beyond and on big, colour advertisements. The Satari Yuva Morcha is said to be patronised by Vishwajeet Rane. "The source of their funding should be investigated so that doubts of the people are dispelled," Arlekar said.
