BJP DEMANDS AXING OF HOME MINISTER RAVI NAIK

PANJIM: The state BJP on Thursday demanded the axing of home minister Ravi Naik for the continuing involvement of Goa police personnel in drugs deals as shown by the latest incident concerning police sub-inspector Sunil Gudlar.
The BJP also demanded a total revamp of the police department and repeated its earlier demand to conduct an investigation into the police-drugs dealer nexus by an independent investigating agency like the CBI. Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesperson Rajendra Arlekar said despite claims by Ravi Naik and the police that there are no drugs in Goa, police are themselves found to be dealing in drugs. While the involvement of ANC inspector Ashish Shirodkar in drugs was noted by the court, the latest expose of ANC PSI Sunil Gudlar shows that the police department is entrenched in drug dealing.
Recalling the alleged involvement of crime branch DySP Chandrakant Salgaonkar into the saga of alleged Israeli drug dealer Atala, Arlekar questioned how Salgaonkar was awarded the chief minister's gold medal on Goa Liberation Day.
Chandrakant Salgaonkar had deliberately sabotaged the investigation of police drug nexus case and it was at the instance of the home minister Ravi Naik that an award was given to Salgaonkar says public. It was an award for the help Salgaonkar gave Ravi Naik to save his son from the law said one citizen
