PANJIM: Goa State Commission for Women (GSCW) today began its parallel inquiry into the alleged pushing of north eastern girls into sex trade. Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) is already inquiring into the incident after the girls were rescued from Lotus beauty parlour at Porvorim.
GSCW Chairman Ezilda Sapeco said that their inquiry was also to cross check various suspicions raised by Nagaland State Commission for Women about the raid. The commission members, however, could not note the rescued girls’ statement as they were busy with inquiry by SDM.
Sapeco said that commission’s inquiry would be completed in four days and detailed report would be furnished to Nagaland counterpart. “Since the SDM was conducting an inquiry, we couldn’t speak to the girls. But we saw them in the remand home,” she said. The next visit to the protective home is however not planned, she further said.
The Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) on Wednesday had sought detailed report from their Goa counterpart about the raid on alleged busting of inter-state sex racket. (HD)
NSCW chairperson Sano Vamuzo expressed concern whether six Naga girls who are rescued and lodged at Merces are really involved in the alleged flesh trade or are falsely implicated.
The raid on September 9 was executed after three Mizoram girls working at the beauty parlour left the work on October 4 and reportedly informed Mizoram NGO and police about the activities here.
The women police team had rescued 11 girls from Mizoram, Nagaland and Belgaum who are allegedly victims of human trafficking. Five boys, including the parlour owner Mahalaxmi Mishra were arrested for trafficking and pushing the girls into flesh trade. Children’s Court will decide on their bail applications on Saturday.
Mizoram police on Wednesday sought production warrant to take custody of the lady owner for questioning.
As long as there are customers and suppliers this trade will never be stopped. Remember that is the oldest trade in the world. But in Goa the laws have to stricter than the rest of India.
ReplyDeleteThis is the only way to bring Goa police to book. Our police must have taken money in lacs from the lady running the parlour and that is why it was not raided and this would have continued unfazed were it not for the Mizoram police. Where is the crook ATMARAM DESHPANDE now?
