PANJIM: Alleged serial killer Mahanand Naik was today acquitted in the murder case of a 35-year-old woman by a local court here, giving him relief in fourth out of 16 murder cases registered against him. Mahanand (40) was acquitted for lack of evidence by a sessions court of murdering Shakuntala Kavthankar in 2005.
Police had claimed that Mahanand had killed Kavthankar at Cuncolim village, 25 km from here. Mahanand had allegedly confessed of killing the woman on December 30, 2005 by strangulating her. The victim was a saleswoman staying at Haturli, Mayem village and the alleged killer had befriended her, they said.
This is the fourth murder acquittal in a row for Mahanand, who was convicted for seven years imprisonment for raping his wife's friend. He was exposed after a 23-year-old girl complained of a rape against him. During investigation, Mahanand allegedly confessed to his crimes in the temple town of Ponda. - PTI
Viva Goa and Goa's judiciary system. He is convicted and sentenced to 7 years for rape. What about murders? Out of 16 acquited in 4. All these murders have the same story and background. He wil be acquited of all the murders. I hope they will at least let him serve the seven years sentence that he has got and hope that he rots and dies in jail before the 7 years are over. The victims souls must be crying for revenge. Let their curse befall on our corrupt system and the lawyers, police, judges who support them.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, gua pulis. You miserable asses. Lack of evidence??? With good behavior and lack of space and food in our prisons,AND soft walls, hopefully, he will be out in a couple of years at the most. I hope and wish he strangulates each of your sisters and daughters when he gets out. Only then will you fools remember what you learnt at the pulis akadami about collecting evidence. SOBs, couldn't build a case on confessions? wtf....
ReplyDeleteMahanand is 25% free 75% to go, were these cases fabricated or hastily investigated? In Goa Criminal and Drug cases presented to court seems to have the highest rate of acquittal
ReplyDeleteIf the Police investigating serious crimes fail to get conviction in the Court of Law, the same police must be put on trial for aiding the criminal to be acquitted. Only then will the police learn a lesson.
ReplyDeleteHow will our Goa Police learn a lesson. They are not allowed to put chains on the criminals, they are not supposed to touch them, they are not supposed to chase them if the try to escape. They can only watch all this as if they are watching a movie. And if, and only IF, by luck they manage to arrest a criminal and put him in jail, when he comes for trial our Goa Police cannot make a concrete case against him and the criminal is acquited for lack of evidence.
